Bit non-plussed about this.

One of the big positives for me is that we'll maybe be able to rest Brown a bit more this season and not miss the aggression that he brings. Different players obviously, but I have a funny feeling it may help with that. We draw and lose far too much when he's not in the team and it needs fixed.
The aggresion bit is fine. The composure is another question.
Absolutely

Probably enough there to work with from our perspective but I'm not expecting a player good enough to contribute in our biggest games quite yet. If he can come in and do a job next season whilst allowing us to rotate a bit more than we have being doing under BR, particularly last season, then it'll be fine.

If only he had the calmness, maturity and composure that Broony had when he signed for us. Hang on a minute.................!

McGinn isn't good enough to improve us immediately but hopefully he'll be a good squad player initially and improve over time. In saying that the majority of fans will no doubt enjoy his all action contributions. Me included. Definitely think the club are doing this the correct way. Try and get him as cheap as possible.

I'm ok with it. We've thousands of games and the big guys need more rest.

Definitely happening and Hibs seemingly don't want Allan.

Very good source.
I agree with your earlier post about not rating him as good enough, however looks like we are going to need to accept it and hopefully proves us wrong. Seems to have a certain inevitability about it now.
Never thought we'd ever agree on anything. ;)

Hoping to be proved wrong, but don't see it with McGinn at all.

He has the potential to be a good signing. Plenty for Rodgers to work with.

Fwiw mcginn is far more skillfull and comfortable on the ball than people are giving him credit for. I think a few will be pleasantly surprised.

If that's gonna be our signing policy then we are in for another turgid season.

Get players in of the same quality at least, preferably better. Let the guys in the jerseys know if their levels drop they there's someone waiting to step in. There's a comfort at the moment and that needs to change.

Until he pulls on the hoops and actually plays games for us nobody knows how good or bad he is going to be, how many fans of broonie didn't rate him when he first signed and how many wanted rid in his first few seasons ?

If he signs give the guy a chance, reading some of the stuff on here the guy is condemned before he has kicked a ball for us.

Why are we letting Hibs play hardball with us for another midfielder who is not an improvement on what we have ?

Delighted with this - Will be a great signing. Wee man signed for hibs (on an 1/8th of what he got offered down south) to prepare himself for this move.
Brilliant. Hope he ends up a star.

He is. Touch of the Scott Brown syndrome about him where his energy and dare I say, dig, somewhat overshadows the fact he's a tidy enough footballer as well. Got goals in him too which we've seen first hand.

I think we're getting him for a decent price considering what else is out there, and as long as we don't neglect other areas of the park badly in need of strengthening, I'm pretty happy about this one.

I don't think this'll be the end of the signings. We've lost Armstrong ( a sub basically) and have replaced him with a sub. He's a versatile, player gives us cover on the left and can help improve our Domestic performances which were shampooe because of a knackered bunch of players.

I'm ok with this, but I still want improvements elsewhere.

He's an improvment on last seasons Armstrong, and is definitely better than a man short.

He's not being signed to be better than what we have from the off, either - we're signing him to develop. Cheap, good starting point, young and Timmed out his nut. Canny grumble.

There are certain positions were we need to sign quality, central midfield I would say we are fine with Brown and Ntcham and signing a squad player in that position makes sense. We would struggle to get a better squad player than McGinn who I reckon could turn out to be a good acquisition for us.

If we are talking about central defence and right back then yes we absolutely need quality that will immediately improve the first team.

Its a signing that makes sense. He may not be exactly the same as SB but he is not that far off it and can be coached into it
when the time is right. A season or two to fit in- Giving SB much needed recovery time. If we want SB for Ten- this is one way that we do it. Plus he really really wants to be here.

Very few people didn't rate Brown. It's revisionist nonsense.

I'm ok with it but I just wish we'd get our defenders in first.
