The question is - would he have brought more to the party tonight than the existing cast did?
No. He would have come in instead of Kouassi I suppose (because he sure as hell isn't bumping Brown, Ntcham or McGregor for a place) and I'm not convinced he'd have done anything worth replacing him for.

Had Brown been injured he'd have started ahead of Kouassi. What you're saying is a bizarre method of measuring the merits of signing him.

It's a bizarre method of measuring the merits of signing someone by comparing them to the players who already start in his position and the substitute who came on to replace one of them...? :suspect: Not sure how else you'd do it.

Had he started instead of Brown Alashkert would've had a much easier run at our already positionally suspect defence. Don't see how that would've ended well.

As opposed to Kouassi? Neither are as good as Brown right now so both would be a downgrade but I don't have any doubts that he would have been slotted into to the team ahead of Kouassi in Browns position had he been injured.

The manager wants him, whereas Kouassi has been linked with move away.

Clearly our valuations are pretty far apart. I think we'll wait this one out.
