McGinn told st mirren he was going to hibs with a view to signing for celtic so they were happy to gamble on a sell on fee versus 150k development fee.

He has also told petrie he wont be talking to any other club than celtic.
It would be nice if that is true. Not suggesting it isn’t.

History tells us though that if someone offers him double the wages we offer he will talk to them. Would be nice if he put more of a value on playing for Celtic than earning a lot more money.

I was told he knocked back a lot of money to sign for hibs instead. Smart boy who values his development/looks long term.

eboue is nothing like mcginn as a player. completely different types

looks like he will be away for season anyway whilst mcginn is playing for us
Spend £3m on a player who the manager says will be Scott Brown's replacement.

Rarely play him.

After 1 and half seasons of him mostly sitting on the bench or in the stands we send him out on loan.

Returns to the club, rarely plays.

Send him out on loan again.

Returns to club in final year of contract...

Aye calm it mystic meg

Scored 2 in 1 game against us last year. Scored 4 in the other 42.

The question is - would he have brought more to the party tonight than the existing cast did?

Impossible to answer . But if he'd signed last week and Broonys injured had been worse he may well have played tonight. And he may have done as well as Lewis Morgan did .

Agreed, however the same can be said about all the other players we never signed. Do we need another hero?

Why do people keep comparing him to Brown or suggesting he’ll fill that position - when he doesn’t play that role for Hibs?

I know , thats why i said " impossible to answer" .

i just prefer to look at things in an optimistic way ( YES , we can do it !) and trust the managers judgement (mostly).

Only said him cos he was a midfielder with an injury doubt and McGinn's a midfielder .

Well we're on the same page then! I trust BR and if McGinn is signed I'm sure he'll be slotted in. I just wonder if we'll have an overload.

Don't think he will fill Brown's position - Brown took the best part of 7 or 8 years to settle into his current role. However McGinn has some similar qualities/attributes that the team seem to lose when Brown isn't there.

It's not about replacing Brown per se, it's about making sure we still have a balanced midfield in his absence. Last year that didn't really happen and we looked pedestrian in such games.

Hard to say how McGinn would do with us - even some better players have struggled to settle into our squad, but he's certainly got potential and hopefully the right type of attitude.

Would rather put money for fee and wages towards the defence.

And what about Kouassi who's been with the team for the last year and training with the squad - don't you think he would get in first before a brand new player who just arrived?
