Not worth 3m even if he had more than one year left on contact.

How much do Hibs want for McGinn?
Hibs are convinced that he is worth 4-5 million

2-3 million with a player on loan should hopefully do it

in this inflated market I dont blame Hibs for looking for 4 or 5 M. The problem for them, is he is in the last year of his contract.....and they probably need to do something this summer..

I would imagine he will be in on a free in 12 months if that amount is to be believed.

There's been too many paragraphs invested online for him not to join. I need to know, I need to see it for myself. How will it all turn out?

We can always rate Scott Allen at £ 1.5m and give them £ 2m...means they pay St Mirren less of a % of the deal. With his contract running down and not wanting to go anywhere else Hibs are in no position to try and play hard ball.

Now that Brendan says he wants him, McGinn will most likely hold out for Celtic - even until January.
I'm sure we're quite happy to wait, rather than pay over the odds.
We'll want him asap, but not at any cost - especially as we're in such a strong position.
£2m + Allan perm & Henderson loan.

Bari might have something to say about that

If we want him, just pay the £3m. I'd rather he was in now, contributing towards our season. We have the money, and if he's regarded as what's needed, then get him in.

I reckon we'll have him in and paraded before the Liege or Alashkert home games next week.

Contract up for renewal, now on a diet and trying harder.

The length of contract remaining only matters if no one else is keen to sign him.

If he has a great season and let’s his contract run down yes we will be able to get him for free but so will everyone else.

Our conundrum is if a player is EPL ready beyond doubt we can’t really afford them ( Dembele loophole excluded ) so we need to get them when they are still a risk.

If we were all agreed he would walk into our team we would probably be lamenting why we can’t afford him.

If we don't want to go that high but an English club would I think McGinn would wait it out til January to come here.

I’d rather we held off and got him in January for a small fee or signed for next season for free.
He’s not going to play many games with us anyway this season, going by how well the subs/second string have played during preseason.

Do folk no ever think maybe Hibs can't afford Allan or don't want to dedicate a huge chunck of their wage bill to him? That they bought Stevie Mallan, a guy while not similar in style plays in the same position as Allan, suggests they might have moved on from Scott.
Maybe they haven't and this is all brinkmanship but transfers aren't often as easy as throwing names with pounds to make it work. After all, we ourselves will value both McGinn & Allan at certain levels that is different from Hibs valuations. Just caving in and giving Hibs what they want for a guy who looks like he'll be a sub for us isn't good business sense.

Maybe I’m just desperate for another signing but I think we should just pay it, either that or use Allan to knock the price down. Brendan wants him so let’s just go and get him without messing around. Besides, I’d rather keep our money in Scotland anyway.
