In Hibs' last win at Ibrox John McGinn played at left-back (played well and scored). Perhaps another tick in the PRO list. Obviously I'm not suggesting we are signing him as a left-back.
i have never been keen on McGinn , but if he can play left back i might change my mind.

It would be better framing it as "the last player we signed from the SPL that looked even remotely competent at the level we want to playing at, was Scott Brown".

John McGinn would be fine if we were coming off an absolute humdinger of a season and we needed a bit of easily available, competent SPL level material while we total gutted the squad.

However we are not, we have a largely settled midfield since Xmas and we also need defenders, quality ones. Every penny spent elsewhere at this point is a distraction from that.
Scott McDonald? Stuart Armstrong?

How does the ratio of successful players signed from the SPFL compare to the ratio of successful players signed from outside the SPFL?

That's not a fair comparator, comparing one league to every other league in the world.

How does the ratio of SPFL signings compare to, say, signings from the Swedish league or the Championship?

There's no fight you can't fight
This battle of love with me
McGinn again
So little time
We do nothing but compete
There's no life on earth
No other could see me through
McGinn again
Some never try
But if anybody can, we can

But change all the words to football shampooe.

Usually I'm so wrapped up in Celtic that I don't pay too much attention to players on the other team. However, whenever we played St. Mirren when McGinn was there he was always very prominent in the game and usually their MOTM. And whenever we play Hibs and he gets the ball anywhere near our goal, my heart is in my mouth tbh. So considering that, and the fact that he comes from a Celtic mad family, I welcome John McGinn to Paradise.

I remember guys on here saying we should take a punt on him at at mirren they have been proved right.

He's a good player, if Brendan wants him we should get it done. Lawwell and Petrie don't get on at all so I'd be surprised if this goes smoothly.

It was a polite question as I noticed a thread was opened last night then locked and then I come home from work and it's reopened and I trawled through all the stuff about songs and him not being good enough and then I googled his name and looked at his wiki page to find it updated.
I am always amazed at people who have an aversion to something but open it and feel compelled to comment on it. Anyway each to their own.

I wasn’t actually having a go at you. I was having a go at people who edit wiki the second we’re linked to a player to say he’s our player.

That said, I’m beginning to think that today is your first day on the internet. Stay off Twitter. It’s a minefield
