I see they've announced Aberdeen-Huns for Sky already. Have they just not decided what time flag day will be at, or are they not showing it?
Not showing it, and neither should they. A waste of time. No point burning one of their four live home games involving Celtic on pish like Livingston.
Pablo5 said earlier it had to be shown :ponder:

Having Sky on and listening to them drool over Gerrard really is cringeworthy.

Presumably you're being held captive.

If you can post on here, you should be able to get a message to the cops to tell them where you are.

Why does it have to be shown? It's a completely pointless fixture to waste a game on.

I agree. Didn’t understand it but that’s what he said.

Sky wanted us v the Huns as the opening game so as not to burn a fixture

Fairly easy start to the season with the exception of Hearts away, coupled with the European fixtures i don't think we could have asked for any better.

The only thing I can think of is that it is impossible for the SPFL and Sky to know if we'll be playing CL or EL qualifiers at that point. If it's the latter, the game would presumably have to be moved to a Sunday as we'd be playing Thursday night (hopefully not).

Easier to pick a game like Sheep v Huns because even if they do make it to that qualifier stage, they know putting it on a Sunday won't matter.

If they put us on a Sunday, we could be away in Kazakhstan on the following Tuesday. No go.

Similarly, if they put us on the Saturday, we could have been away in an EL qualifier in Moldova or wherever on the previous Thursday (again, let's hope not).

I can easily see why they've stayed clear of our game, for a few different reasons.

I would say all Sky wanted to do was announce that they were showing Stevie G's first game as manager. That's the only reason that this one TV game has been announced. They probably haven't even considered what of our games they'll be showing yet.

It was 5th July last year before they announced any TV games.

As long as we beat Hearts we will be at least 5 clear of the huns after pumping them. It’s a pretty good start for us.

SPFL Fear Another Powderkeg Fixture

"SPFL Spokesman, Calvin Mason, confirmed that the governing body and Police Scotland were seeking to move the proposed 1 September 2018 Celtic Park clash as it was feared that Celtic could clinch the title against their city rivals."

Yeah but they always pick the games from the opening weekend together. Then announce the rest for the first quarter later.

It's quite simple. They've no way of knowing whether we'll need to be playing Saturday or Sunday, and won't realistically until 18 July after we've played the second leg of CL QR1.

Not one heavyweight English Premier League game on the weekend of 1 September. The biggest games are arguably Leicester City v Liverpool and Manchester City v Newcastle United.

Coincidence? I think not.
