By far the best goalkeeping period in the club’s modern history. :)
But in the Zidane thread you said the modern era ended with Maradona and started with the Zidane. So the best goalkeeper period in the last twenty years or so has been in the last twenty years or so?

Boruc was the last world class player to play in Scotland.
van Dijk
Not while we had him.
Disagree. I've never seen anyone play for us who was so clearly light years ahead of everyone else on the park. It was like a professional playing in a youth game at times.

I called that he'd end up at Barcelona or Real Madrid within 5 years and I still think he will.

Forster just edges boruc for me. Boruc attitude at times let him down, but he was class as well.

In my time of watching Celtic, Forster, boruc, Gordon, bonner, Douglas.

DDV, Gould, Gordon Marshall, Hedman all dross and caused varying levels of consternation for me.

Douglas was horrendous. Absolutely horrendous. Dont recall him ever making a decent save in any big game.

At the very top of their games Boruc, for me, was clearly better than Forster but i realise this is highly subjective.

That's not true. In the run to Seville he had some very good performances. He was undoubtedly error prone but far from horrendous.

Having only seen Bonner from YouTube videos I'm surprised so many rated him.

Looks like every goal McCoist scored against us came from a shot he spilled or a cross he missed.

Nup, I didn’t say that nor did I put any timeframe on it. :)

However I do absolutely agree that the last 20 years has given us the best keepers of the last 20 years.

You're entitled to your opinion, but while he was clearly an outstanding talent, he wasn't at that standard with us.

Boruc was one of four keepers nominated for the FifPro World XI in 2008.

I'm not sure Virgil has ever been talked about at that high a standard.

His kicking was insanely good, ahead of his time in that department. Very much like the current Man City keeper.

He was the McManus of keepers.

He was solid and reliable in a game where we were on the back foot and he was busy.

He made a great save from Gerrard in the game at Anfield.

He was OK for a very long time.

He wasn't far above mediocre, but he was good enough and content enough at Celtic that we never really tried to replace him.

Boruc always a maverick but fantastic keeper, could pull off some wonderful saves and reliable in big games.
Only weakness was his attitude.
Forster was fantastic for us too but weak on crosses for a big guy.

A save from a gerrard 40 yarder is all i can recall. Poor in stuttgart, poor in vigo, horrendous in the final.

 Can't blame the man for that, he did his best and for me at least he is a bit of a Legend. Twenty years and over 600 games, 80 caps, that'll do it for me, even if I did feel we needed better.

If we'd a Hall of Fame, he'd be in it.

However, let me try and make a point.

You'll hopefully only ever need one keeper, so it's a tough position to manage.

There's two ways to address a mediocre mainstay, either let Bonner hang about and do a reasonable job or go out and hire a De Vries...

For what it's worth, I think it'll be interesting to see how we manage Bain and Gordon next season.

I agree Gould was steady enough. I just couldn’t stand G Marshall. Find it hard to dislike any Celtic player but he pushed the boundaries. Convinced he had gloves sewn onto the end of his sleeves with no hands in them.
