Quoting limited to 3 levels deepHail, Caesar'Hail, Caesar' - the spelling was changed in mid-90s reprint.
As a boy I had a copy of Billy McNeill’s book called (I think) “For Celtic and Scotland”. Is that a different book from Hail C(a)esar? :ponder:
I don't recall that one. :ponder:
..
EDIT: I stand corrected on the book.

Have we mentioned the recent upsurge in the amount of people wearing "fake" tops.

Now I don't mean a set of hoops that you picked up for €10 in Santa Ponsa that's meant to look like the real thing but has the badge on the wrong side and is the wrong shade of green.

I'm talking about the proliferation of absolutely hideous looking tops that may have the badge, sponsor and even the SPFL badges but then have a picture of Broony or Brendan Rodgers along with a few quotes. Absolutely awful things and I'm not sure what type of person looks at one of them and thinks it looks good. There's an equally dreadful range of Irish Republican ones knocking about too.

Had a quick look for some examples - these are far from the worst but best I could find in a few mins searching....

Example 1

Example 2
  I was working in Greenock last week and saw one of these for the first time. It was a knock-off hoops with a big print of Bobby Sands face along the bottom!

The one that pisses me off is the young snappers these days insisting that Big Billy's nickname is 'Cesar'; while that may well haVve been his nickname among the squad, he was frequently referred to in the printed media as 'Caesar' following Lisbon. In fact, the first print of his biography was Hail, Caesar. I'm pretty sure Billy would have corrected any mis-spelling.

Let's just agree that - for different reasons - both spellings are correct; I'm fed up being corrected by posters who weren't even born when Billy was playing.
If he's named after Cesar Romero, then he's Cesar. Why can't people just accept that things can change?
Are these two sentences not contradictory?
Don’t know.

The printed media would never surely have spelling inconsistencies, would they?

Does the confusion arise with the monkey Caesar in Planet Of the Apes? Like Billy, he displays excellent leadership qualities also. I don't believe he has ever played football though. He was more into gymnastics.

I was led to believe Caesar the Geezer was named in rememberance of Billys header against Dunfermline. I'm clinically insane though.

Sure i read in his book that he was named Cesar after Cesar Romero as he was the 1st to have a car. (presumably Romero was the driver in ocean's eleven, can't remember).

If we can find the original video of this, then we may have an example that we can pickle in formaldehyde and put on display for generation after generations of Celtic fans, warning them of the dangers that befall them we they go 'peak' Sellick Da.

From memory, there's a chilling sadness in the children's eyes as the camera pans past them as their slightly trans-Atlantic brogue father loudly proclaims, "...of course you can have some ice cream, of COURSE you can have some ice cream!!". Let the Celtic-themed DIY mancave be a warning to us all.

This is happening people. This is not a drill, repeat, this is NOT a drill.

If we don't weed out these sub-human scum soon, we will have failed. We've fallen asleep at the wheel and we're hurtling headfirst straight into a club-issued tiny plastic flag that we'll be forced to wave before every European game. We'll start all our home games by putting the ball on some daft we plinth thing, that the referee will pick up the ball from as both teams walk out the tunnel. There will be some sort of SPFL-endorsed 'theme' music playing in the background.

This is happening. You've all been warned. If you tolerate this, then Ntcham will be next.

Aye but most of us would never have heard of Cedar Romero if it wasn't for Billy McNeill, although he was supposed to have been amazing in Wee Willie Winkie (1937).

Perhaps the debate should centre around why the carrot couldn't spell his own name.
