Online Celtic Factions 2018:

Sellick Da (the Middle England of the Celtic support. 99% Gammon)
Sexxxy Ghirls (Substituting difficult relationship with real dad for difficult relationship with online Sellick Das)
Young Team (Buckfast; flares)
Un Corp de Celtique (flat white-drinking jessies, disapprove of New Balance deal)
Curtain Twitchers (90% content is hun related; see also Mickileaks)
The Demented (General headcases)
Baws. I have myself in Pot 4.

Most embarrassing OP ever and sadly downhill from there, or should I say their.

Nothing for it but second half of the Scotland game... leave Belgrano and chums to decide what constitutes a proper Celtic fan and pray that I qualify.
Oh cheer up.
Think you might have missed the tongue firmly in cheek... or the first half of the Scotland game.

But thanks for the pep talk

My S3 boys are mostly of the opinion that Griffiths is better than Dembele.
Detention for a month.

Also this is the best thread on the main page in a good while.

people who use the 'celtic da' term are for the watching :suspect: up there with the 'bang average' brigade :nono:
and "highly doubt". I should be in the swear filter thread.

Edit : outwitting the swear filter

I think the "Celtic da's" was coined by the young team who only really discovered Celtic fairly recently. Many of the Celtic da's on twitter are those who follow Celtic home and away and have done for many years. The young team are more what I'd call a new-age supporter / Brendanite. Celtic is fashionable for them just now. Indeed one of the leading young team (who spent last weekend spewing abuse at Bitton) has only been to one Celtic game. In the golden days the young team would be cracked on the bus and their behaviour kept in check. Twitter doesn't allow for such controls now, unfortunately.
Dunno whether you’re joking or not with that last line. It’s either quite funny or very wrong.
He’s spot on. Back in the day, the old skool patrolled the CSC’s like the ‘Ra in Free Derry - wee fuds were given warnings, then a punishment beating before the ultimate sanction of having their tammy sh at in. Tough love, but standards were higher then! :rocker:
Our bus was mental.

I don't think I quite fit in any of those categories. I think if we had them in something like a Venn diagram it might help folk position themselves and find their place in modern-day Timdom.

Can I be an associate da'?

So three Celtic Das would be a Trio?*

Back on topic...
(Engage serious mode)
FFS, it's Twitter (and/or Facebook which I eschew)
There are zoomers everywhere, and technology allows us to step into the limelight for a second, possibly get attention, and then disappear.
Some make money out of it.

If you're going to get precious over some less than erudite kid bamming up some celeb or other, or trolling some site on a whataboutery mission, then maybe you're not doing it right?
You don't need to use it. You don't need to read things you don't agree with. You don't need to follow folk.

The effwittery evident in replies to perceived slants isn't exclusively a Celtic thing.
Some threads I've seen on innocent subjects can produce the same ignorance and hilarity as any other.
Just check the replies to ANYTHING Trump has tweeted to see that it's a global phenomenon.

Tweet by someone/something well known stating some "fact"
Reply by one or more people disputing said fact by quoting some other fact.
Replies by others saying "Good fact" or "shampooe".
Replies by others quoting stats sites or a link to such.
Replies by others consisting of whichever GIF satisfies their emotional reaction to the reply that suits their point of view.
And so on until the next fact is stated by some other person and the circus rolls into town again.

The problem with Twitter is that it's mostly polarised if ever an argument comes up. No room for debate, just "GIRUYe", "Naw GIRUYouuuuu","Ma da's", "Yer maw" etc.

However I'd be lost without Twitter as a news feed. I don't invest time in reading shampooe, and if you've read this post thus far, then you probably do, so good luck to you in your Twitter rage!

*Only real Celtic Das will get that.

I think the threat became real when the tarpaulin was peeled back from the upper tiers. Before then - the threat was benevolent, not-real, and confined to the virtual-online world. But when those sheets got stripped back to reveal the seats of shame - a tide of vermin poured into the stadium. The threat was no longer imagined - they were coming. In fact, some of them are here - it's real. If we're not careful and do something the guy sitting next to you at Parkhead next season might still have his lycra on. Or worse, he may be wearing hiking boots. There have already been saltires spotted inside the stadium during European games. This is the Celtic equivalent of finding mice droppings under your sink. If we don't do something quick - our club will turn into a nest for these people.

I sit up there, as I moved back t the country a few years ago and it was where they offered me a seat. I wouldn’t judge the folk in that end so harshly, most of the people around me never miss a game

The most Celtic da' thing about this is how something so mundane can provoke such a high level of discussion 2 weeks after our treble winning season ended and 2 weeks before the World Cup starts. A new level of tedium for KDS.
