The increasingly annoying rise of the social media Celtic fan; Price to pay for being the new 'establishment club'?

Celtic fans are probably the most annoying football fans on social media. From the pure Sellick da's, to the Johnny-come-lately glory-hunter fans. To the fans who now sit in the seats that used to be covered in tarpaulin, to the Sellick burds with their cleavage for retweets. We have some serious zoomers who seem to have started following us now. Check out the comments on this tweet from Sky Sports for a flavour of the aforementioned zoomers.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Gareth Bale is the 1st British player to score in 2 European Cup / Champions League Finals since Phil Neal, for Liverpool in 1977 & 1984 <a href="https://t.co/o1ZTRoWWbe">pic.twitter.com/o1ZTRoWWbe</a></p>— Sky Sports Statto (@SkySportsStatto) <a href="https://twitter.com/SkySportsStatto/status/1000470566606917632?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">May 26, 2018</a></blockquote>

How do we cleanse ourselves of these sub-human scum? In the past the hard work would usually be done for us - we'd lose the league and you wouldn't see or hear from them again. But that doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon. A well-timed "Up the 'ra!" usually makes them a bit uneasy and can move them on for a bit. But they're back soon - usually after the latest Phil blog or a piece of news on sevco that they desperately want to share on social media with everyone.

What shall we do with these new 'fans'?

Here's another one. Check out the replies. You'd think the fact the guy does a Celtic podcast might be a bit of a clue? Then again, as is pointed out, the inclusion of a few 'trigger words' sets all the dafties off in one of their sevco feeding frenzies.

They also seem to have a really hard time understanding what a parody account is. Even when it says it's a parody account in the bio. For some reason the eejits keep retweeting (the albeit pretty good patter) of this parody Leigh Griffiths account.

I find there's a correlation between the number of wee shamrock emojis they use in their Twitter handles and how effing mental they are on social media.

Can’t stand The Clumpany, Fr Paul Stone or Jeanette Finlay. They’re probably on this board, but I don’t care. I’ve muted those accounts though I still seem to see their tweets from time to time.

Jeanette aside, Throw in clowns like 'Bartin' and James Forrest (no the player) and you've got the set of the main ones to avoid.

I followed an account called Celtic retweets that used to retweet some amazingly cringe-worthy shampooe. That and absolutely anything Sevco related
