Three-and-a-half year contract for Rooney sounds very optimistic given his rate of decline in the last two seasons. Imagine what he’ll be like at 36.
300k per week - allegedly

He hasn't half regressed at them, I'd be surprised if we didn't enquire about making him part of the Armstrong deal

Terrible with the ball at his feet - doesn't fit the mould.

That bad injury seems to have been the turning point. He was good up until then.

Does Anthony Stokes currently have a club?

He's currently training in Motherwell PureGym... :twitch:

Yeah sure I saw that mentioned. Kudos to him for trying to keep his fitness up if he doesn't have club facilities (or if he's doing extra) but a bit of a come down for a guy who was playing in Europe for us and winning trophies with Hibs to be in a budget gym in the Lanarkshire Las Vegas.

A couple of interesting/strange transfer rumours on the swamp tonight (obsessed moi?).

One is someone who doesn't appear to be a timposter claiming that Ryan Jack's wife is saying he's being offered to teams on loan.

The other is Josh Windass and Dean Windass both claiming on twitter that Josh has a £3mill release clause (Dean said it explicitly, Josh liked a tweet by someone else who said it). But their ITK posters are claiming to have it from impecable sources that this isn't true. Thick though he be, it doesn't seem plausible that Windass doesn't know his own release clause. Looks more like Sevco are preparing to punt him then lie about the fee they received, like they did with Garner and Waghorn.

The Magpies are also interested in Andros Townsend but Crystal Palace want around £30m for the 26-year-old winger. (Times - via Newcastle Chronicle)

Newcastle winger Matt Ritchie is a £15m target for Championship sides Middlesbrough and Stoke. (Telegraph)

i know we should be well past days of surprise at fees down south but come on ffs

a release clause doesn't have to be met, two clubs can negotiate a lower value if they so wish.

Whether Josh and/or his agent get a higher cut/signing on fee based on whether the release clause is activated or not is another matter.

Cardiff have just signed someone called Bobby Reid from Bristol City for £10m.

Now of course this is very little in EPL terms these days but it still makes for grim reading after having a quick glance at his career.
Stats can be deceiving. Cardiff fans probably think it’s insane that we’ve just spent our record transfer fee on a striker who’s scored a grand total of 12 goals in his entire senior career! Yet we know he’s a class act.
Fair point but unlike Edouard, this guy is 25.

Mohamed Elyounoussi to Southampton for €20m.

Armstrong and him on the same day. Not a good day for the Celtic Hipsters :(
And by that setting a new transfer record for a Norwegian player (the old record: Tore Andre Flo to Rangers for 13 mill. in 2000).

£1.5m is too much for Ritchie.
