McCourt looked good skinning limited St.Mirren & Inverness defenders but did little against any semi-decent side. If he didn't come from Derry he wouldn't have been here so long, didn't even score a goal in 3 of his 5 seasons.

Rogic is much fitter.
But nobody we have now can go past players the way Paddy could.
Rogic is far superior player to Paddy and has given more to the team.

Not even a debate.

Paddy was one of the most naturally gifted players you could hope for, but when he met the devil, it was like, "would you like the drive, determination, the fire in your gut to be the best, a level of fitness to match your undoubted skill? ......or would you prefer THIS pint of Guinness...."

Paddy is still the same - He lives across the road from Buncrana Golf Club these days and regularly plays 9 holes and never a full 18 - When he plays the 9 holes he only does so if the Golf Cart is available - God forbid he would have to walk!!!

He had brilliant balance and could drift by people superbly but so much else was wrong with his game - You can use those skills to be the Main Man at Derry City by turning it on for 5 minutes but it won't work at Celtic.

Anyways much more importantly his wife is keeping in much better health these days.

Paddy has taken a job as yoof coach at Derry whilst still playing for Finn Harps. Frankly he needs to be tied up naked and dumped in a peat bog somewhere.

To perfectly preserve him so future generations can dig him up and use his DNA to genetically engineer a better athlete with his natural ability?

Well while we are on the subject I don't think any of the posts so far do justice when describing the mesmerising talent of paddy mccourt. The guy had all the trickery and guile that any player has ever had. His fitness held him back although whether that was down to lifestyle or genetics or a bit of both I don't know. But his ability to get past 4 and 5 players was jaw dropping. We hadn't seen that since jinky nor since McCourt left. His wizardry with a ball was a joy to behold, it really lifted the heart. His was a very special, almost unique, talent and we were lucky to have had him play a part in the club's history. He dazzled , he thrilled, he brought 60,000 fans to their feet in wild admiration many, many times.

Those goals were sensational. I don't think we appreciated what we had in Paddy McCourt. You rarely see that kind dribbling talent nowadays.

I'm new. Be gentle.
More of the George Best style than the explosive Diego technique, either way exceptionally talented. the "anyone can have a great highlight reel" argument may apply to some people but very few have one with the quality of Paddy
