Cheers Mickey - he’s also shown on transfermarkt with market value 3.6m !!! ( I know I know :suspect: )
English teams would need to pay a fee. Be the same as the Dembers deal.
I thought THAT word had been sewra flitreed by a hilarious mod ?

Have heard a few snippets this week/weekend through a couple of sources. Some more surprising than others.

- Gamboa and DDV are obviously for the off (MLS and back to Holland)
- Armstrong was adamant he was leaving this summer after being persuaded to have one more crack at the CL. He was assured he'd be let go this summer once Ntcham was settled and in the hope that continuing his form would keep his price up. His form/consistency hasn't been as good as last year and Ntcham has rightly taken his place, so the teams sniffing around last year have took a step back. Both parties are now in a catch 22, don't be surprised if he stays/comes back with his tail between his legs/signs an extension.
- Erik is off, Rodgers doesn't rate him
- Contrary to what's in today's papers, I had heard Jozo was for the off. Rodgers still expects Compper to be 3rd/4th choice next year.
- A new first choice RB will come in. Lustig's red card at Aberdeen set him back with Rodgers and his WC commitments this summer means this is a priority and will be the first position to be sorted in the summer.
- Finally, look away now but....... a new centre half is not a priority, neither is a GK
Your bottom point is not a massive surprise. I think Jozo, Boyata and Ajer are all pretty much what BR looks for in a CB. It wouldn't surprise me to see them all play better next season as it looked like Rodgers had finally told them all - Boyata in particular - to keep it much more simple. Most of us won't like it, but that seems to be the case.

And I know Jozo has been getting massive flak on here, but if you go back 12 months you'll see that he was an absolute monster for us and we were talking about taking no less than £12m from potential suitors. I have faith he'll get back to that level and kick on.

Who was the last 'name' player to work out for us. Keane and Bellamy both good but loans...
Scott Sinclair.

FWIW, I don't think McLean is anywhere near as bad as people on here make out.
I'd be happy if McClean came here. Would definitely do a job for us.
I think so too

I think McClean could do a job for us, at a level we've come to expect from our players. He could be our own version of James Milner, and before anyone laughs, he's a very useful player to have in your arsenal, despite not setting the world on fire with his silky skills, or highlights reel.

Edit: And the fact he's desperate to wear the hoops shouldn't be overlooked, or sneered at. He'd bust a gut for us because he's one of us, that has to count for something.
Don’t see why anyone would laugh at the Milner comparison given the next game Milner will be playing in.

We need a defence. 3 out of the 4 first choice defenders are liabilities in European games (and KT, great as he is, hasn't exactly shone on the big stage)

Conceding shampooe goals is our fotet in Europe. We can score against anyone but we can't stop anyone scoring against us. Have to sort it. I don't care if that's the only area of the team to see changes this year but we just cannot rely on Dedryck, Jozo, or Lustig any longer.
The issue isn't with the quality of our defenders in Europe....it's with the tactics we employ and general poor ball retention in midfield.

If we continue to play that way then it won't make any difference if we sign a couple of experienced CL campaigners on £80k a week....they'll still be left exposed and looking like diddies on a regular basis.

If the team is set out to give the defence a bit more protection, and to hold on to the ball for more than two touches before handing it straight back to the opposition then you may find that Boyata and Simunovic aren't quite the liabilities you think.

I was thinking his pace, direct running, eye for a goal and physicality but each to their own I suppose.

Everything makes total sense up until the look away piece at end :ffs:

Just what I heard but would absolutely love to be proven wrong on both counts (GK, CB)!

A new centre half only becomes a priority if Boyata doesn't sign a new contract. Like it or not, BR has said that he is his first pick and with Ajer as his likely partner, and Hendry playing when we go three at the back, we still would have Bitton and Compper as back up even if Jozo and Erik leave.

Works his arse off and would offer alot defensively in Europe.

Seems to pop up with big goals for Ireland too.

If the new right back is really good, he could make Boyata look less shaky at right centre back.

Doubt it though.

Good knows what you think of Hayes then.

He'd improve our squad big time, he's supposed to be 30k though.

Some fresh legs at right back with some pace and agression would make a helluva difference.
