10 million (if true) is a lot of money no doubt about it but needs to be seen as an investment. He looks like a cracking player with a great attitude and bags of potential. I am not concerned, it won’t be paid upfront and I am confident we would recoup the 10million and then some in the future.

I don’t think Edouard will cost £10M but if we had signed him a yr ago and an epl team offered £10M we would be saying he is worth far more than this!

Reports in Merseyside this afternoon we are looking to get Jon Flanagan from Liverpool on a free....

Dont watch Engerlund football but is he any good?
I think he was highly rated a while back when Rodgers was the manager. I'm sure he was a first pick for Rodgers too.

I'd take him, comes with baggage but I'd take him still.
There's baggage then there's booting your girlfriend while she's on the floor. The guy is a textbook scumbag and we should give him a very wide berth. Everyone deserves a second chance, but his second chance is that he's not in jail.

I'd also take him.

The guy has had a moment of madness and everybody deserves a second chance.

Was really highly rated a few years ago.

Indeed. There's hundreds of other options out there. Also, from a footballing perspective, he hasn't kicked a ball for about 2-3 years.

I'd rather take Adam Matthews back to CP. One year older, far more experience AND more importantly, doesn't beat the shampoo out of women.

Of that quality for free?

If we go for him Rodgers obviously believes that he can get him back to his best. . .and who would doubt he could?

I'm not sure he is quality given I haven't seen him play for probably 3 years and I'm not sure a loan to Bolton is a great indicator.

I think RB is a priority position so him being free doesn't really matter in my opinion, if we need to spend £4-5m to get someone better then we should.

All in all, not sold on the idea

I'd bring back Adam Matthews back solely for the fact he knows how to take a throw in, which no-one in our team currently seems to be able to grasp

I was a big fan of Matthews at the start but he turned into a bit of a shampooebag when it came to tackling. Not what we need in defence

We're apparently spending £10m on Edouard.

The £5m you say we should spend on a right back doesn't grow on tree's and for me if we can get a player that Rodgers rates and get him back to his best, on a free then we should do exactly that IMO.

Worth the inevitable baggage and negative press? Genuine question... I'm not so sure.

No chance it will be 10 mill Rodgers said it was below the 7 mill quoted before it will be 3 to 4 mill with a sell on fee

I'd like to see Flannigan on a few for us, with normal wages for us.
Still pretty young, can cover both FB positions (KT needs cover too) & was looking like a potentially very decent player at one point.
As long as his wages aren't daft & they shouldn't be considering his baggage, it's a good punt & one we're probably very interested in.
Still like a new RB, incase he can't recover form.

But, a good rumour & one I'd like to see come true.
Love a good freebie!

Celtic are set to break their transfer record this week as they look to formalise a permanent deal with PSG for Odsonne Edouard, while sources inside the Parkhead club have rubbished any link from Leicester for manager Brendan Rodgers.

The French striker has made it clear to his representatives that it is at Celtic where he wishes to be next season and with the Parkhead side having until Saturday to trigger the clause they agreed with PSG last August, it is expected that talks will be ongoing this week to secure the services of Edouard this week.

It is believed that the fee for the forward is £10m, a significant outlay from the Parkhead side whose current transfer record is just over £6m. However, having worked with Edouard this season, Rodgers has been particularly vocal about the qualities he sees in the striker.

Rodgers himself has been subject to speculation this summer already and this weekend saw him linked with the Leicester job by the English media. There has been speculation that Claude Puel, the current Leicester manager, will be replaced this summer with reports putting Rodgers as the Foxes number one target.

That was met with some scorn within Celtic Park with the Parkhead side in no fear that their manager is anything other than content with where he is.

One player who could be set to go, however, is Stuart Armstrong. The Parkhead midfielder signed a one-year deal last August after a protracted summer of speculation but it has been a difficult campaign with injury this term.

The Scotland internationalist has been linked with Crystal Palace and West Brom and it seems inevitable that he will pursue new pastures for this coming season.

He never said it was below, he said it was nowhere near £7m to which we all assumed (me as well) that he meant it was lower. In fact he meant it was higher.

Still won't be paying £10m up front.

As for Flanagan a scumbag and carrot. Don't want him anywhere near us.

Flanagan is a woman-beating scumbag who should be nowhere near Celtic Park.

I mean literally have him just for throw ins. We'd likely still win the league if we played games with 10 men + Matthews running about taking the shys when we got one.
