10m for Edouard.....thats a big fee if true (doubtful) if that was the cost of the deal including his wages over 4 years then aye go for it but a straight 10m fee is a bit scary, we cannot afford to splash cash like that and for it to go tits up if he fails to produce, the guy showed some glimpses of brilliance but not 10m worth, i think our track record on wasting money on players that fail to produce is whats scaring me a bit, offering Moussa a big deal would be a safer bet imo but what do i know!

What element of what you have seen this far (for a 20yo) leads you to wonder if he will "fail to produce"?

I like Eddie a lot and 5/6 million would be about right. £10million is too much.

Im sure Brendan said previously that the amouts quoted in press where way higher than actuall agreed fee....

If 10,000,000 is correct that will include wages for the duration of the contract I'm sure...

Celtic are set to break their transfer record this week as they look to formalise a permanent deal with PSG for Odsonne Edouard, while sources inside the Parkhead club have rubbished any link from Leicester for manager Brendan Rodgers.

The French striker has made it clear to his representatives that it is at Celtic where he wishes to be next season and with the Parkhead side having until Saturday to trigger the clause they agreed with PSG last August, it is expected that talks will be ongoing this week to secure the services of Edouard this week.

It is believed that the fee for the forward is £10m, a significant outlay from the Parkhead side whose current transfer record is just over £6m. However, having worked with Edouard this season, Rodgers has been particularly vocal about the qualities he sees in the striker.

Rodgers himself has been subject to speculation this summer already and this weekend saw him linked with the Leicester job by the English media. There has been speculation that Claude Puel, the current Leicester manager, will be replaced this summer with reports putting Rodgers as the Foxes number one target.

That was met with some scorn within Celtic Park with the Parkhead side in no fear that their manager is anything other than content with where he is.

One player who could be set to go, however, is Stuart Armstrong. The Parkhead midfielder signed a one-year deal last August after a protracted summer of speculation but it has been a difficult campaign with injury this term.

The Scotland internationalist has been linked with Crystal Palace and West Brom and it seems inevitable that he will pursue new pastures for this coming season.

He did, people need to stop believing what they read in the papers about us, it’s pure guesswork and a number of our posters are more informed than they are.

So, our record of pissing away money on untried strikers is worrying you? Makes sense that you wouldn't want to spend serious cash on somebody who has already shown us what he can do.

He's clearly a talent and all the signs are good. But no one knows if he can replicate that form as a 1st choice, or have consistency over a season or more. Any signing is a risk, the higher the outlay, the higher the risk. It's just a given.

Now get him signed!

I’ll refuse to celebrate any of his goals. Such wanten disregard for the balance sheet should not be endorsed.

Rodger stated it was less than the quoted 7M not more as McConnell is suggesting? Or did I pick this up wrong?

Jon Flanagan released by Liverpool the latest name linked. Probably better than Lustig. We need a right-back for sure.
Heard he is flying to Spain on Sunday with the Hun squad for their pre season camp.
Where will Tav play?

He said it wasn't £7m at least, which seemed to point to it being less but who knows.

“Where have you got the figure from?” said Rodgers in response to the perceived sum for Edouard. “No – it’s not that. I’m not telling you what it is, but it’s not that."

Thats all he said, could be higher, could be lower

Or it could be up to £10million with add-ons for appearances, full international caps, CL/EL success etc. Add-ons could either be realistic and likely to be triggered, or total fantasy (e.g. £3million add-on if he scores in the CL final for us!) to allow PSG to fudge their accounts for FFP! :suspect:

I think he was highly rated a while back when Rodgers was the manager. I'm sure he was a first pick for Rodgers too.

I'd take him, comes with baggage but I'd take him still.
