If we sell Armstrong and buy McGinn I am not convinced we are up on the deal.

Financially maybe. We should get a higher price for Armstrong than we will probably pay for McGinn.

And if the rumours are true we'll overpay for McGinn because Hibs negotiated a bad contract with St Mirren.

No wonder they want circa 3mil if it's a 33% sell on

I'm sure we can negotiate that down to £2m plus 10% of any future fee.

If McGinn come and does well he might be worth £10m to an English club in a few years. Then there's your extra £1m

If Armstrong does go this summer...then imo it'll be for more than the £4m fee banded around in the SMSM, even in the last year of his contract he'll go for between £6m-£8m, clubs in the bottom half of the EPL will happily pay that..and have paid more for utter dross in the last year of their contracts.

I hope all the silence is because we’re working on deals. Imagine at the end of the summer McGinn’s been our top target all along

Pretty sure McGinn joined Hibs under freedom of contract. If someone managed to negotiate a sell-on clause under thise circumstances then, forget McGinn, it's that guy we need to sign.

Just an opinion I'd imagine we will be spending our serious money on other targets not ones who are not ready to play first team football for us right away.

St mirren are due monies as part of a development fee negotiated.

We'd at least have swapped a player who wants to play for us for on who doesn't.

If the manager wanted McGinn I'd wait to see him playing for us before dismissing the idea. He looks pretty decent to me but I don't suppose I've seen him as much as others might have done.

If the manager doesn't want him and we're buying him to avoid a potential James McCarthy situation I'd obviously be less keen.

Can't see who he'd get in ahead of at the moment but teams change from week to week. Never thought McGregor would turn into one of Brendan's most trusted big game players or that Sinclair would start so many games on the bench either. It's all pretty fluid over the course of a long season, but my main concern is the defence and has been for quite a long time.

McGinn will do well for us and we won't pay any more than £1.5m plus Allan.

Ok, I'd agree with that...but would be a big loss of transfer fee for Hibs if he left on freedom of contract...despite wtnt Leanne Dempster has said..they'll want a fee for him imo.

Rather have the better player to be honest.

We'd all want to play for Celtic. Doesn't mean we are any better as a result.

We'll have a committed player over one who was going to drop us for Huddersfield. That'll do me.
