McGinn doesn't improve the starting 11 nor does he improve the squad imo, the only plausible way i'd sign him is if Armstrong had to leave, just adds another player into an already congested area of the pitch.

I'm hoping there are deals lined up for Brendan when he returns from his holiday, we don't need much as long as what we do get is decent quality.

Rogic extending his contract was massive, if we can get Armstrong to sign a new long term deal and Edouard signed up that would be a boost as well, two or three others coming in to fill the problem areas and i would be happy with that, if Armstrong wants away and the Edouard saga is going to drag on i would ditch them and get others in asap.

A few fellow fans are starting to panic about them, don't get that at all though...unless you are buying in the worlds top players nobody with no experience can buy up a team of average players and start winning cups and titles straight away, they will struggle to get in the top 3 again and as soon as results start going wrong they will start to crumble.

There is no way Allen will sign for us, he might want to come but his fee and his wages even if he took a big cut would still be out our league, he would be a fantastic signing though.

I hope we snap up McGinn, Rodgers obviously likes him and Broonies comments about him basically confirmed he is wanted by us and by the time Broonie runs out of steam he would be ready to take his place, i would rather we signed him and it didn't work out (unlikely) than us missing him and seeing him flourish elsewhere, we have done that too many times in the past.

I am expecting to see quite a bit of action when Brendan gets back from his holiday, its early doors and too soon to start panicking.
When does he get back from his holiday?
31st June.

That's my take on him.

Surely we have to focus on quality in key areas that we continue to fail to address, rather than 'he might turn out a player' deals?

Brendan can't seriously think our defence is ready to kick on in Europe. I mean, surely?!

Assuming Armstrong is leaving this summer, which was the point of the daft 1 yr extension then McGinn would be an adequate replacement. If not, it’s a bit meh.

A mate of mine suggested its the kind of signing that we lambasted Ronny for and I can kind of see where he's coming from with that one.

As you said, there is bigger priorities within the squad such as the defence and imo the gk area, with the champions league money rumoured to be going up again then we really need to prioritise this area.

The end of an era. I'll bet he'd have bitten their hand off if they'd offered him a new deal.

Good to see we're finally clearing some of the deadwood but I'd still like us to wave another 4-5 off before anyone comes in.

A true inspiration.

A lesson that you can be a crap footballer with a bad attitude and still get the chance to play for Celtic, be paid to do it and walk away with a pocket full of cash.

Out of contract or have we had to pay to get rid?

He still had time on his deal so presumably we've paid him off.

Think he had a year left, so we've probably paid him off.

He signed a 4 year deal in 2015, so he had another year to go. Big Pierre saw us coming.

Absolutely crap. Can't believe Deila or the club thought he was of the standard required to get us to the CL group stages.

Ranks alongside Rafael and Boerrigter as the biggest wastes of money in Celtic history :(

I'm wondering though if it was a 3 year deal with a club option for a fourth year, which Celtic have (obviously) declined.

The reason I say that is that the statement specifies that he is leaving on 30 June, which is the standard date for Celtic player contracts to expire. Unlike (I think) every other Scottish team, who now use 31 May.

If he was being paid off, wouldn't he be leaving immediately?
