If I knew KT money would be spent on real quality defenders then, even I'd accept it. I don't hold out much hope, though because our scouting team and even BR doesn't seem to be very good in that area.
Would you not credit Rodgers with developing Ajer into a capable centre back? What about Tierney? He sure as hell wasnt a £25m player two years ago. Boyata has also, over the piece, improved.
She refers to scouting/talent id, not his evident coaching ability.

Don’t shoot the messenger and I know it’s only a tenuous link but a friend of mine who has connections at West Ham told me we’ve enquired about Sam Byram. Attacking right back who loves a tackle but has been unlucky with injury is how my friend described his West Ham career
Someone posted similar a few weeks ago. Pretty sure I seen a link being posted after that, which showed he was going to another side and the deal was done or almost done?

I said recruit. These players were already there. There's nobody in the development squad as I see coming in to take over that's ready now.
Fair enough but surely there’s scope to suggest that we can improve upon what we already have. If Tierney goes we will be spending some cash on the defence.

seems he was going to Forest on a season long loan.

Edit to say: According to the Sun :boik: he's an "ace".

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Excuses. Loads of clubs line up signings throughout the year, and have the formal signing in January or summer. We do it ourselves, and have built a very good midfield and excellent attack. Our defence is always an afterthought.

If you’re right and it was impossible to sign anyone from January onwards, then we should have signed a few defenders last summer.
We signed two centre halves in January :ph43r:
The defence (sic) rests.

Yes and it's Congerton/Brendan who'll be spending it. Hence the concern.

It seems like we’ve all forgotten that we just spent 9 million pounds on a striker.

If we bought him without the initial loan everyone would be ecstatic.

Not to say we don’t need that level of investment in other areas but it would seem to me we’re forgetting how early in the window it is.
Front 6 we’re fine.

We should be looking to spend 4 or 5m on an accomplished CB, instead we get additions like Jack Hendry. Now, we’re trying to sign the likes of John McGinn.

We’ve got one LB at the club- one.

The fans are being taken for mugs once again. It’s an absoulute shambles.
I'm not sure Mr Lawwell spends much of his day devising ingenious ways of taking the supporters for mugs.
Mr Lawwell. :lmao:

His ability to develop players is his greatest attribute. However player recruitment has proven to be his biggest weakness. All of the above were brought in (or introduced to the first team) by Deila.

Edit to add, I think Congerton's involvement is what really gives me the fear though. It's astonishing that the club saw fit to hire him given his track record.

We've had some bizarre signings on PL's watch. He needs to pull his finger out of his hole. It feels like every year we go into the CL qualifiers weaker than we finished in the previous season.

Aye, that's true.

But how can he not develop the players he signed in the same way he can develop players already at the club?

Thought he'd gone to Nottingham Forest?
Yeh seen that online and he’s been linked with a return to Leeds as well. Apparently we enquired on Monday, maybe we were told he was already going elsewhere 🤷🏻‍♀️

Our squad management is a shambles. We currently have 13 midfielders listed as first team players on the website, plus Johnstone, so 14.

Our only current rumours are for two midfielders. So 16 midfielders will be on the books. What happens then when we can't shift any of the existing 14? Sell them? We'll sell Allan to Hibs no problems. Great, 15 midfielders left. Then we have Christie, Hayes, Eboue, Benyu? Could anyone in Scotland afford them, and would anyone down south want them? More loan deals until their contracts eventually expire?

We have 1 left back who we're probably going to sell against everyones wishes, while we have 3 right backs, 2 aren't good enough and the other 1 has a year left at this level, if that. Our only new centre back in 2 years is shampooe and probably for sale. One of our others is still at the WC and has a year left on his deal, another can't play on 3 of the 11 away pitches in the league. It's a shambles.
double treble winning shambles will do for me some Celtic fans need there head looked at.

An odd one to me was Eoghan Oconnell.

Seemed like an ideal opportunity for Rodgers to develop a real player there.

Maybe I'm blinded by his performance against Astana?

Some folk on here appear to be looking for us to bring in players to bolster our chances of getting through the qualifiers. I'd have thought history would have taught us that isn't going to happen.

In any event, do we really need to improve the squad to see us through the first couple of rounds, say?
It isnt a risk worth taking, we shouldnt gamble
Who says we are actually gambling? That's as if there are players just waiting to sign but we are holding off doing deals. Fanciful to say the least.
I didnt say there were deals we are holding off on, but you yourself have asked do we have a good enough squad to get through. Any hint of doubt suggests a gamble. We have 2 starters in the weakest part of our time away at the world cup.

He was too slow.

If Rodgers is getting the blame for duds, then only last years he signed Ntcham and Edouard and both of them are quality players.

Was away for a few hours and came back and saw we'd moved on four pages,, oh ho I thought to myself, something must be happening...After reading all the posts the best I came up with was we were linked with an injury prone right back that's probably going on loan to Nottingham Forrest..But that's not the worst part. The worst part is that before I read that he was probably going to Nottingham forest I was excited about the rumour... An injury prone right back...!!!

Harry Wilson story seems to be picking up speed.
This would piss the huns off no end.

They genuinely believe Gerrard has been assured he can have any Liverpool player he wants & they won't do anything to hinder his development as a manager by loaning him to us.

I'm sure Liverpool are not solely concerned with the player's development & how much of a loan fee they can get.
