Our squad has been top heavy in midfield for a good while (before Rodgers came in) and light in defence for the same time. It is poor squad management. Defence needs sorted as a priority.

No he didn't, it was just a well compliedwhinge
Well compiled = accurate. There's a cabal of complacency on here who encourage taking the blue pill. One can only speculate on your motivation for insulting/supporting the offensive remarks against those who opt for the red and vent their agitation on a fan's forum.
Oh dear, did someone forget to take their other pills today ;)

It seems like we’ve all forgotten that we just spent 9 million pounds on a striker.

If we bought him without the initial loan everyone would be ecstatic.

Not to say we don’t need that level of investment in other areas but it would seem to me we’re forgetting how early in the window it is.
Front 6 we’re fine.

We should be looking to spend 4 or 5m on an accomplished CB, instead we get additions like Jack Hendry. Now, we’re trying to sign the likes of John McGinn.

We’ve got one LB at the club- one.

The fans are being taken for mugs once again. It’s an absoulute shambles.
I'm not sure Mr Lawwell spends much of his day devising ingenious ways of taking the supporters for mugs.

If we go into this qualifying campaign without strengthening that defence, they can ram their Euro tickets next season.

We sold out or ST’s before a signing was made.

The fans are all in. The club don’t seem to be. They’d rather invest in effing light bulbs.

But from whom.

BR was giving a ridiculous budget(by our standards) in the past 2 windows and chosen not to spend it.

I'm certain this summers budget will be similar, giving the amount we have to play with.
He chose not to spend it? Please show your workings.
Our defence is still shocking? We signed squad players, instead of key players in other departments and spent the big bucks on a failed loan move.

Ok, so we did spend money, but not very wisely and the funds available to BR were wayyyy more than what was spent.

January is the key month, but didn't happen though.

Players would be mental to sign for another team, between Feb and May. Which is why it very rarely happens. Their agents tell them to hold of making a decision, whilst they still have a few months of the season + a (possible)world cup to impress other suitors.

Excuses. Loads of clubs line up signings throughout the year, and have the formal signing in January or summer. We do it ourselves, and have built a very good midfield and excellent attack. Our defence is always an afterthought.

If you’re right and it was impossible to sign anyone from January onwards, then we should have signed a few defenders last summer.
We signed two centre halves in January :ph43r:

Peter Lawwell is as die hard a Tim as KT or you and I. He has a certain job to do, which is uphold and enhance the legacy that the bunnet left us and he is doing a pretty good job of it. By the nature of the job it will make him unpopular from time to time when he doesn’t seem to release the purse strings as loosely as we would like at times.
I’m sure we will spend the right amounts in the right areas in due course. First and foremost the club will remain in rude health and continue to squash our skint neighbors until hopefully that disappear for good.

Sometimes you also need to spend money on the "premises". I think it's more than light bulbs. I believe we also bought some grass seed.

As Derek from Aberdeen said yesterday you need to spend money on facilities to encourage players to come to Scotland. I think the same applies to Celtic. We thankfully have a bit more money to invest in players than he does.

Again though, more cheap options in the area we build our game from.

Hendry was late on in the window iirc? And even that was because BR felt Congreton effed up with the Commpper deal and Boyata got injured.

Might even have been yourself on your pod, that floated BR's alleged line after witnessing MC in his first training session in Dubai. "Get me another centre half"

Apologies if not, but I'm sure I read or heard that somewhere.

If I knew KT money would be spent on real quality defenders then, even I'd accept it. I don't hold out much hope, though because our scouting team and even BR doesn't seem to be very good in that area.

And judging from the manager's comments at various junctures he is being backed as and when and as fully as required - so it's all good!

Would you not credit Rodgers with developing Ajer into a capable centre back? What about Tierney? He sure as hell wasnt a £25m player two years ago. Boyata has also, over the piece, improved.

There's so much that goes into transfers that I think us as supporters tend to get impatient with.

First and foremost, I am confident we can get through Alashkert with the players available.

After that you're looking at 24th/25th of July which is almost 3 weeks away from where we are right now.

I'm not saying we don't need investment in defence, of course we do. But you can see Rodgers is looking for a right back with Odubajo being assessed.

We've gotten there every season Rodgers has been here. Of course it's a little harder this year and we should be preparing for that but he is tried and tested in these waters and hasn't failed us yet.

Keep the faith a bit.

Don’t shoot the messenger and I know it’s only a tenuous link but a friend of mine who has connections at West Ham told me we’ve enquired about Sam Byram. Attacking right back who loves a tackle but has been unlucky with injury is how my friend described his West Ham career

I said recruit. These players were already there. There's nobody in the development squad as I see coming in to take over that's ready now.
