We already had a healthy bank balance before selling Armstrong.

2 different players at different stages of their career with a vast difference in their achievements.
And values in this market.

No one in the EPL wants to buy McGinn.

Our spending 2-3 mill is the equivalent of 6 or 7 in that league. It's all relative. Hibs are chancing it.
It also worth pointing out that what the selling club has in the bank can often be more important than what the buying club has. £1.5million is about 20% of Hibs turnover. That’s a significant sum to be knocking back.

One of the many problems if the Tierney deal goes through is that clubs will know we’re absolutely loaded (even more so than usual) and any player we go to sign will have his price bumped right up. Hibs will be well aware that if we want McGinn badly enough, we could give them £3 million tomorrow without batting an eyelid.
we could also wait till jan and get him for nowt on a pre contract
We could - but we play our most important games of the season over the next eight weeks.
and if we sign McGinn i wont expect him to feature much in any of them.

We're going to a 3-5-2

McGinns straight into that lineup

He’s not a DM though. I’d assume the current 3 would be Brown, Ntcham and McGregor.

I can see McGregor pushed out to the left for these games.

eff me that is horrible. If Brown plays there is no need for McGinn and McGregor at left wing back is just pish. He might "do a job" buy by eff it wasn't a great one.

Despite last season's erratic form, you'd have to start Sinclair on the left. Forrest on the right and Ntcham, Brown and McGregor in the middle.

3 at the back only worked because of how well tierney got up and down the wing.

you couldnt have any of our other wide players doing that role without exposing our defence even more than usual

Sinclair isn’t good enough postionally/tactically to play left wing back. Would offer zero protection. Think we’ll play McGregor wide left if we do.

To be fair to Scotty.. playing him wing back and you take away the best part of his game.

Which might be why we'd go with a midfield two of Brown and McGinn to offer cover to those two wide areas.

In the absence of Rogic, Boyata, Lustig and KT -

We'd line up ----

-------------------------Gordon------------------
-----Hendry--------- Jozo ----------Ajer-----
Forrest Brown Ntcham McGinn McGregor
---------Dembele ---------Edouard----------

Obviously I'm looking at the rumored move for McGinn and the KT thread for this idea but after watching our line up today and Sinclair playing in the earlier game, it's not as much a stretch as some might think.

Sorry Bawman, you just talking about the 1st qualifying round? Okay, I can ubderstand that but still think it is a pretty grim situation to be in.

Yeah, there’s no chance we’re signing Édouard for up to 9m and he’s not a starter. 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 looks nailed on.
