mcginn, although a different type of player, is a better player than mcgregor. completely dominated him most times we played hibs this season (cup apart).

for me he's an obvious signing.
That's nonsense. McGregor is more important to this team than McGinn will ever be.
That's it then. The Oracle has spoken. :(

I mean it's my opinion that McGinn won't ever be as important to our team as McGregor but I just don't see it for those years to come. I'm coming round to his signing, but I'm still unethused by it.

People consistently try to downplay McGregor is all, he's worth so much to the team that we couldn't replace him as easily as we could a McGinn in our team.

Potential blockbuster: Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus? Can't see that myself, he's probably playing the market to see if another big team comes for him.

If we do a 3 point Tierney we might not have to

i'd be happier if we spent as much time trying to get into the EPL as we do selling players to it. Theres no long term future just playing in the SPL.

CELTIC are ready to slap in a second bid for John McGinn — as Hibs vowed to play hardball.

And the Hoops are also hopeful of sealing a loan deal for Liverpool winger Harry Wilson.

SunSport revealed that Easter Road chiefs rejected an opening £1.5million offer for McGinn.

It’s understood Celtic will return with an improved offer — but Hibs are in no rush to sell.

The capital club feel McGinn is worth a lot more than £1.5m, especially after Stuart Armstrong’s £7m move to Southampton.

The former Celt also had 12 months left on his contract when he quit Parkhead for St Mary’s last week.

And while Hibs know they won’t get that kind of cash they are determined to hold out for more.

Talks between the clubs are expected to continue in the coming days — while Wilson is another Celtic target.

The 21-year-old Welsh winger is expected to sign a new Liverpool contract and then be farmed out.

Celtic face competition from the likes of Hull City and Rangers but are hopeful of getting Wilson.

Brendan Rodgers revealed last week that he wants replacements for Armstrong and Patrick Roberts — as well as additions.

The Celtic manager refused to discuss specific targets but admitted that work is ongoing to bring players in.

He said: “There is a lot of speculation around players but I will only talk when they are signed and done.

“The club are trying to do that.

“It is not a case of: ‘Get replacements and then improvements’ — it’s what we need combined.

“But it’s important we get replacements.”

The Uefa deadline for next Tuesday’s Champions League opener against Alashkert is tomorrow — although Celtic can sign a wild card on Monday.

Rodgers said: “For Thursday, I’m not sure. I don’t have any sort of update really, so I’m not sure how close we would be at this moment in time.”

Celtic remain braced for an Everton bid for £25m target Kieran Tierney, with contact expected this week.

But SunSport understands the Hoops WON’T be pursuing their interest in former Hull City full-back Moses Odubajo.

Celtic are ready to press-on with moves for John McGinn and Harry Wilson as deadlines approach for their Champions League opener against FC Alashkert.

The Parkhead outfit are poised to launch a second bid for McGinn after Hibs booted out their opening offer.

Liverpool starlet Wilson is also firmly on the radar in a loan deal, despite interest from a host of suitors in the winger.

UEFA have two deadlines in place which affect Celtic before Tuesday’s first-leg tie against the Armenians in Yerevan.

Firstly, there is one tomorrow night, while there is also a second opportunity before Monday to add a signing as a wild card within 24 hours of the game.

Manager Brendan Rodgers and his squad returned to Glasgow from their Austrian Tour last night.

The boss refused to discuss any signing targets or timescales and said: “There is a lot of speculation around players, but I’ll only talk when they are signed and done.

“The club are trying to do that.”
When asked if any deals could be concluded before Alashkert, Rodgers added: “For Thursday, I’m not sure. I don’t have any sort of update really, so I’m not sure how close we would be at this moment on time.”

Celtic face a tough negotiation to land McGinn with Hibs also aware of interest in their Scotland midfielder from south of the border.

Easter Road chiefs will battle to land top dollar for their prized asset, but the champions will try again and Wilson is also firmly in their sights.

The 21-year-old spent last term on loan at Hull City and is wanted back at the KCOM.

Wilson is expected to sign a new long-term contract at Anfield, but will be placed out on loan Celtic are in the running for a short-term move for the Welsh international.

Parkhead chiefs, of course, also have outgoings to consider with Everton still determined to land Kieran Tierney in a £25 million switch.

The defender played the full 90 minutes of last night’s 1-0 friendly win over Sparta Prague, but Goodison Park boss Marco Silva remains firmly in the picture for a mega-money deal.

Tierney could land a huge personal package with the Toffees if the Merseysiders can convince Celtic to sell by producing the right offer.

Meanwhile, Record Sport understands Celtic will not pursue a move for ex-England Under-20 right-back Moses Odubajo.

I know very little about this Harry Wilson but it’s noticeable that the other teams trying to sign him are all from the Championship rather than the top flight. My gut feeling is that i’d rather we developed the many young wingers we have of our own.

There is absolutely no link between McGinn's value and Armstrong's.

Almost like the Sun and Record journalists have been fed the same stuff verbatim whilst out in Austria. Probably see the Mail running with it too.

Bit underwhelming at the moment. Don't see these moves as being the types to even get us into the groups in this of all years with 4 rounds to negotiate, nevermind actually make an impact in them.

You don't think it's sensible to benchmark against the market?
