CELTIC boss Brendan Rodgers insists Kieran Tierney won’t lose focus amid Everton’s £25million interest.

KT made a rare mistake as the Hoops lost 1-0 to Bohemians Prague.

Rodgers revealed he pulled the 21-year-old, left, in for a chat beforehand and is confident the imminent bid won’t unsettle him.

He said: “Kieran is very committed. Nothing changes.

“He is a good boy and I had a long chat with him just about keeping his focus really.

“You can’t control these things. You just need to stay focused on keeping yourself fit and ready for the games.

“If something comes in, fine. He just needs to go out and concentrate.

“For their goal he was surprised a wee bit by the pass, but that is OK. Apart from that he was very good.

“It does happen — as long as it doesn’t happen in games that matter!”

French side Lille are also eyeing a £5m bid for defender Jozo Simunovic, but Rodgers doesn’t want to lose him.

He added: “I wouldn’t encourage a move for any player, not unless it’s something that needs to happen.

“At this time we need as many of the players here for as long as we can in order to help us.

“It’s such a busy period, so at this moment in time we wouldn’t be overly interested.”

Again, that doesn't sound too promising to me. It indicates a definite interest in him from another club, Celtic know about it, and aren't batting it away.

Edit: And nor should we bat it away, if the bid is good enough.
According to reports today we are going to knock back evertons bid

Spurs are now in for him. I can see us getting more than £30 million for him. I love the boy but we just cannot turn that down.

Yes we can. What will we do with the money? We can't spend the money we already have.

Scott Allan is 27

Maybe he’ll be like Hartley, a late bloomer ;)

I think Allan's alright and some of the comments (dung) are ridiculous, but I don't think he's either the type or quality of player we need in the midfield right now. At 27 it's too late in the day for him to really develop much more, and the things that Allan does well, Ntcham can probably do a lot better.

Would be a decent enough rotational player if we do keep him, but I think it's in everyone's best interest that he does go to Hibs where I think he could have a really great second half of his career.

My abiding memory of him in a Celtic shirt is that Ajax game.

Can tell he's got ability though, so good luck to him. If he's good, he's good. No harm in finding out.

McGinn is better than Allan.
Correct, but they’re completely different players. Don’t know why people are comparing them like for like.

Different type of players yes, but they both play central midfield. You can compare them.

Allan has had his chance with us. He's not 21 or 22 coming back from loan. He's not kicked a ball for two seasons for Celtic and we've managed fine in his absence.

Tidy enough player but couldn't step up before so not sure what's really changed in that time.
Edit: wrong post

We need to make moves soon surely?

This cannot be another summer when we don't improve markedly as a team.
It’s 1 July, the World Cup is on and we’ve already broken our transfer record on a striker.

And we are weaker as a team/squad than we were end of last season. Lots of time but would prefer us to have the players bedded in prior to the qualifiers.

Of course, but we all know how this works. It just doesn’t happen that way.

We have two months to go and we’ve already done some very significant business. We should absolutely be adding some new faces for the later qualifying rounds.

More a case of we won't stand in Tierney's way if he wants to move and there's that kind of money on the table.

If he doesn't want to go then we won't try to force him out no matter what the bid is.

Ball is very much in his court.....he wants to stay at Celtic right now, but if he does get the opportunity to test himself in a bigger league with a team that competes at the top end he might be tempted.

Exactly. And season tickets sold out. It would be a monumental slap in the face for the fans.
