Saying he’d “love to keep” Boyata is another strange choice of words, considering he’s still our player. That’s the kind of talk you expect when talking about loan players.

Unless the contract offered isn’t what Boyata wants and he’s hinting to the board to increase their offer.

Thought this thread was bad enough lately before the claims that we were selling our future captain to Everton, hope we get reports in the next few days that it's garbage or this could turn out to be a really long transfer window

No point saying why Everton?

The club will have a price if any club meets it - he’ll more than likely go. He will feel the club will be happy to let him go and will have taken the decision for him, then he’ll probably sign a 5 year deal worth about 90k per week.

I don’t see him digging his heels in and refusing to move to certain clubs.

Would be to our advantage if he moves to an Everton. We’re more likely to cash in on sell on clause when he eventually moves to a top 4 side.

We all want him here for the ten, I’m sure he does want to stay until then but he’s hardly going to say otherwise to any Celtic supporter that asks him.

We should be asking for 30m with 10% sell on.
i'm sorry m8 thats a load of rubbish... of course from his point of view if he left he should be very selective where he moves too.

celtic of course would take highest bid, for any player its about going to club that matches wages, ambition and do you want to live there.. if someone isn't fussy about that then they are really thick.

imagine moving from celtic for 25-30m to play for the second team in a city who haven't even won a derby game in what 7-8 years? who have no chance of top 6... who he'll be judged against andy robertson even more so and be viewed as inferior because he plays for the small club... and doing all that while moving for £25-30m with other clubs interested in you... as a move for him, everton is a mind blowing stupid move bc he can get that money anywhere in england.
I suppose you’re right. Virgil didn’t go on to become the most expensive defender of all time after moving to Southampton.

If KT goes, my main interest is what the club get for him, not what’s best for his career. If he goes to the likes of United now, we won’t get a sell on clause.

If he goes to Everton he could be their best player within a year or two, and then the top clubs will be paying 60-70m for him and we’d be taking home 10% of that on top of whatever fee we agree.

He knows how good he is, going to a club like Everton now, won’t define him. Your Andy Robertson talk is baffling too and pointless.
Clubs and players are going to maximise their potential when they can. Look how badly off form Dembele was for a period last season, so much so that people were suggesting we would only get 10-12m for him.

Touch wood but he could get a bad injury and that could be that. If Everton or whoever else are dangling a contract worth 90 or 100k per week it would be extremely hard to turn down.

You're at it Kingslim!

Not a chance on this earth he's going to effing Everton unless they offer £60m and just after accepting it PL takes a cyanide pill.

Give it a rest with this obvious non-story.

I've heard £67m is the fee and he's getting £88k a week.

You'd think we were losing Leo Messi the way people are going on.

30m/40m for Kieran Tierney I'd say that's about right considering the market we are in these days.

Our bank balance would be brilliant as well.

Didn't realise that KT was being unsettled even after signing new deal

Perhaps if those doing it saw us being able to perform in Europe they'd be more up for him staying

Being part of a defence that gets the biggest doings in Europe maybe doesn't strike them as in his best interests nor playing the most football in Europe

Virtually everybody on here can see a case for a proper strengthening of the defence and back up for KT

Not seen much sign of that from Celtic

Rogic Odsonne and dembele resigning would be great but ffs sort out the defence

Lustig will be exhausted post World Cup boyata too (and he's shown nothing in Europe for us) Jozo can go and now we have a circus that could have been avoided round kt

To me I’d take Rodgers comments with a pinch of salt. Seems the same generic comment he has made numerous times since arriving. General no need to sell but won’t stand in the way as career is short stuff. He said in Celtic tv interview last week that he’s not fussed about buying many more and meltdowns on here yet contradict himself in that interview . I’m confident unless 35m bid KT will stay and even them only if KT wants it

Playing devil’s advocate, you can turn BRs “ short career, moral obligation” remarks on their head , and consider that PLC Asset/ KTs career are one and the same. Why risk not selling your biggest asset at a premium when there’s a risk of losing it at some time down the line?
I very much doubt KT will go anywhere near Everton, and I’d be astonished if the price was anything less than around £40m come the time, but if you want to sound out the market, this is the way to do it. Man Utd will be watching closely.

As will Man City. They are interested.

Couple of names mentioned by a friend of a friend last night (with decentish connections to club). First was a contract offer on the table for a French winger called Jonathon Bamba. The second was young French centre back by the name of Moussa Niakhate. No idea about any of them but a quick google search suggests both could be realistic

Bamba has been doing the rounds on other forums since the start of June. Which either means there's something in it or your pal reads other forums

Haven't seen Niakhate before though

Everton would be a better move at this point than Man City. They need a left back, he'd be guaranteed to play and there would be a more patient settling in period.

As good as Tierney is, and can be, he's still viewed very much with green tinted specs amongst our fans and has plenty to his game that needs working on, like positioning and crossing. Has potential to be world class, but will need time and I don't think an unforgiving atmosphere like at a City, Utd, or Chelsea would be a good move for the lad.

I mentioned Bamba in May as one on my wish list. If we got him i'd be surprised but obviously delighted.

Terrible video quality, but Moussa Niakhate looks like a ball playing CB, which would fit our needs.

EDIT: Anyone know why some YouTube videos aren't working on KDS? :ponder:

I think the centre back still plays in France for Metz so it’s a different one

RE Tierney, is there a chance Rodgers comments were for the benefit of someone else? i.e. a public reaffirmation of comments made in private to a promising young transfer target, in am attempt to convince them we are a club who can, and will, develop players and then not stand in their way when the time is right for them to move on?

If we're expecting £40m for Tierney than we can start the bidding for Moussa at £70-80m.

I get that everyone loves Tierney (I do too) but if you take the emotion out of it £25m is a very fair offer for him.

I would be very surprised if Pep is looking at Tierney as one poster suggests.
