Came fae a good source about Mcginn and was told before Jan Mcginn ain’t Brendan type player
Fair enough, but why when packing the shelves do you/your collegues always leave your trollys in the middle of the isle, leaving little room to pass on either side? Surely it would make sense to park your food delivery cart on one side so we don't have to do that mad dance with the grannys.

Also when ordering a home delivery with bags, why does the produce never end up in the bags?

Bizarre attack on the boy :nono:
The fact he does work in Asda makes it all the more impressive IMO considering the amount of games he’s been to.

Fully expected him to be a lawyer or something to afford it. :)
He saves money to live better...

Hopefully the spell checker has worked this time :(

Firstly no offence was meant to PTT, I was just making a joke funny or not, on my recent experiences with asda

But thank you for pointing out my spelling errors. Despite being dyslexic and battling many other demons I'm doing alright

You might want to look up condescending though

I am not sure, mate.

Seems odd to me.

We need a top class right back.

A guy who hasn't played for 2 years is a huge risk.

Famous last words given he's about to play in a crucial game but Lustig has shown he's got more than decent performances left in him. If we can ease him down while easing another guy in, one who potentially can be top class, then it seems ideal, almost too good to be true.
Lustig is far from finished as some would have you believe, but it's clear he's far more suited to Sweden's compact, defensive style and struggles a lot more with our attacking one.

The risk of a player who has been out for two seasons with a serious injury breaking down again is - I would argue - not minimal. I would far rather see that position addressed with someone who has played regularly over the past two seasons than someone who isn't.

I accept totally that we have to - at times - go after players whose star rating may have fallen but who still have it - Sinclair being a classic example.

I don't think this falls into the Sinclair category at all.

We signed flotsam and jetsam type strikers for a number of years between 2011 and 2016. It didn't work out too well for us.
Do you know anything about him or heard what people who do say about him?
By all accounts he was very good two years ago but has basically not played since because of a serious knee injury. I get it, you trust Celtic's judgement on this being a possible solution to our right back issues.

I'm not so convinced that we should be taking a gamble (the very fact we are taking him on trial illustrates the gamble) on a player's knee holding up for a position that needs addressed. Especially as we should have the funds to find a decent right back who has played consistently over the past few seasons. An example of what I mean is Stephen Mouyokolo. Remember him ? Taken on trial after long injuries out, won a contract and basically hardly played as injuries took their toll.

If this guy signs and is a regular and a great success, feel free to come on and give me stick. I'll happily take it - I genuinely hope thats how it turns out.

I think Lustig would be a magic signing for a team in the lower half of the EPL who set up a defensive block and not such a good signing for us nowadays.

I'd agree it's a gamble if he's the only right back we consider and the coaches/scouts agree with the KDS group think that Ralston won't make it, Gamboa is frozen out by the manager and Hendry/other centre halves already at the club can't adequately cover the position.

Going in to the season with only Lustig and a player who's been out for two years with a horrific injury would be risky.

On the other hand if we're signing this lad in addition to a decent right back with no injury worries then we've suddenly got plenty of options there. Possibly even enough to allow Lustig (and Celtic) to cash in on a big money move on the back of his world cup exploits.

Contrary to the thoughts of some on this board and others, transfer business isn't simply a case of starting with your top target and making a first and final offer and working your way down the list until somebody accepts. Plenty of players will hedge their bets until they see what else is on the table for them or if we're heading for the CL. And selling clubs may want to hold fire until they are far enough down the line in their own transfer dealings to be confident of filling the slot in their squad.
The easy deals to do are for players who are out of the picture with their current team for whatever reason. Getting players who are playing regularly at a decent level requires a bit more effort and some patience at times.

I wonder if there is someone in or around the first team that gives PTT info because we (Celtic) want it out there but not from an official source?

I suppose it’s feasible that Everton bid while Coleman was out injured which would have been shortly before Odubajo got injured

It is a step up but hardly a massive one. If you sign for Ajax you get to play against Feyenoord and PSV. If you sign for Celtic you can play against Rangers. Are Gronigen and Alkmaar that more attractive than facing Aberdeen or Hibs ? Because of the lack of physicality in the Dutch league a number of players are now struggling when they move to one of the big 5 Western European countries.

Ajax can point to getting to the Europa Cup Final in 2017 but Dutch clubs record in Europe over the past few years is hardly stellar. Yes, its a better league than Scotland but the players going there are NOT out of Celtic's current price range.

I genuinely hope that if this boy signs he is a success. But I think its a big risk and a totally unnecessary one when we are flush with cash. And it would really beg the question of why we bothered hiring Congleton.
I would say so. The Eredivisie has 16 stadiums with over 10k capacity. Those 16 averaged >10k per game last season - most over 15k. The standard may not be brilliant, but it's far better than our top league, for sure. It'd be far more pleasurable to play at a full Euroborg than 8k in Rugby Park. Add 30% onto the wage, take away a fair whack of rain, and its paradise in comparison.

You've forgotten to mention Utrecht, Den Haag, Vitesse, Heerenveen, Roda, Breda & Twente, who would all usually be favourites against Aberdeen or Hibs. Twente, of course, had a shampooer of a season last year and have been relegated, but even at that.
You can also smoke reefer and pump belting prozzies after training each day.
