Usual penny pinching from the board. We should aim for a £3m+ PTT

Another unlikely rumour but a rumour nonetheless

Apparently we’ve enquired about Ianis Hagi from FC Viitorul in Romania. His da was no a bad player but have never seen him play. Seen it on twitter from an account @BrianHoopsman.

Again, probably some carrot making stuff up and pretending to be ITK.

Is the Dutch league better than the SPFL yes. But its not a massive step upwards. And I really don't think that prospect of playing Den Haag or Utrecht is going to be that persuasive when faced with the prospect of Aberdeen or Hibs.

And I don't think Ajax pay 30% more in wages than we do. We offered Mitchell Dijks a better wage than Ajax did in 2015.

Foreign players get a 30% tax break in Holland.

You're dismissing these teams too easily. There are at least a dozen teams over there who have similar to far better attendances every week. There's three here bar us, and that's only when they're doing well. The prospect of a full season, playing in front of decent crowds, and earning more would turn most without a connection to us. Ajax are just a better draw, and the league has a lot to do with it imo. Put them in the Polish league, say, and I don't see them having the same appeal.
I'm told Max Wober was going to sign for us - tax break or not - until we dropped our interest to pursue Roberts. (we couldn't afford them both) As a result he went to Ajax. If you have better info feel free to correct.

I accept that the Dutch league is a better draw than the SPFL. But playing in Groningen or Vitesse is not a big draw - going to play Feyenoord or PSV is. Utrecht's stadium is hardly streets ahead of Easter Rd. One of things that was a big attraction for players going to Holland is that do well with Ajax or PSV and it would be a stepping stone to a club in the likes of Germany, England, Spain or Italy.

Such thinking is being called into question. The failure of an increasing number of players from the Dutch league to progress when they make it to one of Europe's big 5 has been noticed by the likes of Simon Kuiper., who say that there is a lack of physicality in the Eredivisie.

We could sign someone whose fitness is not in question and who has shown form over the past two seasons. Less of a risk when it comes to an addressing a problem position. And also players who have been out that length of time often break down again - Durrant, Craig levein, John Kennedy etc......
If the club are happy with his fitness then the risk is minimal.

We aren’t in a position to sign players with no risk. We can sign young guys who see us as a stepping stone, we can sign decent players whose career has taken a wrong turn, or we can sign squad flotsam and jetsam. None of them are risk-free, and the risk has to be weighed up against the cost.

If the fitness isn’t ok, this one fits into the Sutton or Sinclair category. Relatively proven quality but career has stalled. That’s a good market for us.
The risk of a player who has been out for two seasons with a serious injury breaking down again is - I would argue - not minimal. I would far rather see that position addressed with someone who has played regularly over the past two seasons than someone who isn't.

I accept totally that we have to - at times - go after players whose star rating may have fallen but who still have it - Sinclair being a classic example.

I don't think this falls into the Sinclair category at all.

We signed flotsam and jetsam type strikers for a number of years between 2011 and 2016. It didn't work out too well for us.

Every fecking time PTT posts a rumour we get this. Believe it or don't, but ffs stop having a debate about whether he knows stuff or not. We'd be here all day if it was anybody else - ie Remy, Mikey etc. He's not just a random fan, the players all know him, but does that means he knows stuff? - no idea! At least he's posted a rumour instead of pish about whether McCourt was any good.
Imagine the carnage if PTT and Phil posted a rumour together
