John McGinn has signed for #Celtic in a deal that sees Celtic pay £2.7m plus Scott Allan and Lewis Morgan joining Hibs on an initial 6 month loan
Really hope this is nonsense. That's a terrible deal.

Please just sign some defenders. If Tierney has to play another 50 game season we're in danger of not just standing still but eroding the asset we do have.
Was it not sixty two games Tierney played last season? :ph43r:

Morgan is 100% not going on loan.
Do you not think that will depend on Brendan’s view?

The way Morgan came across in his recent interview sounded like Brendan said it was up to him to play his way into his thoughts - which would suggest he currently sees him as a work in progress who isn’t in the forefront of his mind for this season.

Who is the us you refer to? It certainly isn't Celtic. Replace laziness, incompetence and complacency with accountability for scouting and signing, and an improved chance of European progress will occur. I don't trust Congleton and at least 2 Celtic scouts have questionable ability. There are signs of chuminess and pay days taking precedence over talent in appointments and signings. Time for the board to step in and ensure the rot doesn't derail the 10 and CL qualification.

Nonsense.
Maybe, but we have signed a lot of pish over the last couple of years. More than our share for a club as prudent as ours.

There's not a club on the planet gets all signings right.

As in which players?

Compper
Musonda
Hayes
Gamboa
De Vries (twice)
Kouassi (so far)
Benyu (so far)
Hendry (so far)

Certainly willing to cut the latter three some slack but that's plenty. Hit rate is about 50/50. Needs to be better.

You're cutting the latter some slack, i'd also cut Compper who hasn't been fit some slack.

Hayes was signed as cover then was injured when he was coming onto a game.

To me that leaves Gamboa who looked very good in the world cup but admittedly doesn't look cut out for Scotland and De Vries who was the Nottingham Forrest player of the year but has come up here and simply not performed.

We've won a double treble and our accounts are looking good. . . .folk get too worked up about a couple of failures.

We’ve won back to back trebles and you’re worried about a few dude signings? I know the celtic fans are split over mcginn but i’ve always like him and think he would be a great signing. The money and wages to get mcginn would be a tiny% of the profits we’ve made thanks to Brendan in the last 2 seasons.

What good signings have we made since Rodgers took over? Not including Dembele who we were already after. I can’t think of many.

Fair point of view. I'm not willing to cut Compper any slack. He was brought in to cover during a period when we were very short at the back and had a tonne of games to get through. He didn't get a kick so for me has already failed what he was brought in to do. The signing made no sense at all when we badly needed someone to come in and steady us for zenit and he couldn't even play.

The relative outlay and expected role on most of those players was low with the exception of Kouassi, who most people think has talent but unfortunately is competing with Brown in the form of his career for a place.

Our scouting is no worse than any other team and our record over the years in the low end of the market is consistent. Even under MON he got what he paid for with diminishing returns on the cheaper players.

We unearth some gems at lower prices and deals but 2 or 3 to 1 in that market won`t work out for a variety of reasons.

There`s a relentless criticism of Brendan and his scouting team now but it`s touch OTT or melodramatic.

I'm not worried about our success at football at all. It was an observation on the success of our signings.

Try to separate that out. BR has done what he has largely by improving what was here.
