We've been linked with Harrison and Bakkali in the past, so maybe something there. Person i know who follows MLS was really high on harrison before his move to man city...

I actually think Ashley williams could possibly be a good signing
Agreed on the first two, not so sure about Williams these days.

If the past is anything to go by, the quality we're linked with is quality a step or two above the quality we eventually sign.
Yea a lot of hedging there on my part. He's been poor for everton but could be a decent older partner for Ajer.

And definitely agree with your second point.

saw Harrison a few times when he played for nycfc against my local club ny red bulls..pretty decent player, MLS is very physical as well so it is similar to Scotland in that sense.. seems like he didn't get much of a look in at boro on loan second half of this past season but I think he'd be a decent option to bring in. got into the eng u21 side as well last yr

Is it not just that they want Scott Allan as part of the deal, hence the price would be different for Celtic from other clubs?
Hibs are due a large sell-on clause (30% rumoured) to St Mirren for McGinn. This means it makes more sense for Hibs to do a cash + player(s) deal with Celtic than just straight cash from Derby or whoever, as they would be losing a big chunk of that automatically.
Excellent point, didn't think of it that way before..

I'd be happier with Christie taking over Armstrongs role than sign McGinn. Keep Kouassi rotating him with Brown before European games. If we make 2 big signings my preference would be a quality right back and a right winger. Morgan looks like he plays on the left so we're a bit short on the right.

Not that I agree with this but I wonder if BR thinks he can mould McGinn into a right wing back with his running power and energy. Just don't see where he plays in our midfield.
A right wing back?
It's the same hing - running passing and tackling, but back and right a wee bit, plus only one side to worry about. He should piss it.

No problem with Boyata going

I don’t want him and ajer to be our pairing going into CL

Need a barn storming mega bucks cents half please

As much as I’d like a super cooper new right back - a top notch centre half would be the berries
I semi agree....Although I would like to see what his replacement looks like like first.
Better the devil you know and all that.
The man Marv is/was a pacy, left sided centre back. :suspect:

Where are we with McGinn then?

I’ve read people who claim they have sources say we are not interested as BR doesn’t rate him and on the other hand different folk saying we will sign him this summer, again people with “sources”

Anyone know anything concrete?

This McGinn chat is boring now. Fact is, Armstrong came from Dundee United with about the same hype and potential talent as McGinn would come from Hibs. He had a couple of good seasons and now we've gone and sold him from anywhere between £7-10m. Give the guy a bloody chance before you bury him.

Plus, I seriously doubt that's the only transfer we're working on in the close season. I don't know if it's panic or sheer stupidity in this thread any more. Have to say this sums up the feelings of most fans I talk to.

I think all “under contract” transfers have to have a value assigned to them, even if it is some kind of swap deal - probably to avoid these kinds of shenanigans.

use it to get Chester off Villa.
Quote:

Crisis-hit Aston Villa could cash in on central defender James Chester – if they get £20million.

The Wales star was a core part of the side, but losing in the play-offs has wrecked Villa’s finances.

Brighton would be interested, if they lose their own centre-back Lewis Dunk to Leicester City.

they wont be getting 10m never mind 20m , its a buyers market at Villa.

Williams just suffered a collapsed lung at the start of the month.

Would be ridiculous to sign him.

I'd much prefer Boyata to extend his contract with Celtic, but if he won't agree to a new deal then we don't have much choice if a decent offer comes in.
He said himself that it is uncertain whether he will be a Celtic player next season, so I think he is open to offers.

We'll just replace him with another Belgian centre half on the fringes of Man Citys first team squad...

He'd be better beside Boyata.

Boyata has a presence in both boxes and dominates, not the best on the ball though.

Yeah, agreed.

Unfortunately, Brendan likes his centre halves to play it out from the back, which none of them, bar Ajer, are comfortable with.

I think if we got a ball playing centreback beside Boyata we'd be fine. That's why Ajer has been good, imo - has a decent defender (without the ball) beside him and is clearly better at playing out than him.
