Warnock on Talksport this morning said he'd spoken to Celtic regarding a friendly, also said playing us that early in their pre season probably wouldn't work of them and they would stick out a team of 20s

Burnley away? Think we're still spoken about fondly in those parts after the Anglo Scottish Cup game back in the day.

Rovers also play Cork the day before so it's probably be a second string Celtic v second string Rovers. Same as last year. I think the third stand in Tallaght will be built by then, might make it a bit easier to grab a ticket.
It'll be easy to grab a ticket for it - they're charging €30 and €17.50 for U14 :nono:

was only €20 last year and it didn't sell out (albeit they had put in a temporary stand).

Can't see many Rovers fans paying that to see Celtic crush their U19s again. Doubt I'll bother at that price either.

Tis a bit steep but not the worst when you look at some of the crazy prices the GAA are charging for their generally crappy stadiums and facilities.

Got sorted for myself and the wee one. Looking forward to it now. Glad it's an afternoon kick-off too.

Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght 7th July
Is there a bit of friction between sets of fans...someone told me this yesterday? :ponder:

One of my first games Im pretty sure it was EC mid 80's v Rovers at Parkhead...I was around 6/7 years old...pissing down night at CP, Holding onto my dad trouser legs it was that miserable getting into old stand at CP!

2/3 big irish fellas blitzed next to us with Rovers tops on....one of my earliest memories of CP

Not sure what GAA matches you're going to? Have never seen kids tickets for a GAA match priced as much as they are for this game.

It's not even close if you're comparing value for money between the two. Anyway, hope yourself and your wee one enjoy the day

nah - not really.

There'll be the usual few LOI diehards with a chip on their shoulder about anyone that supports a team in England/Scotland

Also I think there's some link between the Celtic casuals and the Bohs (rovers big rivals) casuals.

But nothing worth talking about

I could write a book about the trip to Glenmalure Park for Rovers v Celtic in 1986 in the European Cup.

A day/night of utter madness.

Between Celtic fans and Rovers fans?!

Nah. They'd be a general eye-rolling thought amongst LOI fans to people from Dublin who support British teams over their local teams, but nothing whatsoever specifically against Celtic. There'll be no segregation.

€35 for an adult ticket for Derry v. Donegal this Sunday, in fairness. That's a joke...

Kids' tickets are reasonable, mind you. Anyway, the Rovers game is still a cheap day out to see Celtic in my book.

If we didn't beat Cardiff, especially their U20s, there are at least three people in this office that I'd have to batter to death. As I'd rather not spend the rest of my life in prison, I hope that one doesn't go ahead.

The other half is taking his 13 year old daughter to this for her first trip to Ireland and to see Celtic outwith Scotland.

Does it matter what stand they're in and are the Celtic fans congregating in a particular one?

Nah, I'd say it'll just be a case of pick seats anywhere and you'll be fine.

pretty clear in austria how they deal with bankrupt clubs

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SK_Vorw%C3%A4rts_Steyr

history

1. pre bankruptcy

2. post reformation

you'd thought that would appeal to sevco support

Hoping for a friendly down south again, enjoyed Sunderland last year. Anywhere in the North would be grand.

I'm new. Be gentle.
Still expecting two more games to be announced for late June / early July as part of the Austrian trip. Hopefully against better teams like Sturm Graz, Red Bull Salzburg or Rapid Vienna (though we have played Rapid twice in the last 4 years). Odd that no firm schedule has been announced: the organising Austrian company Global Sports confirmed there would be additional games announced (which I read as 2 games) and that the team will be based in the same hotel as last year. It just seems odd that last year it was all communicated just after the cup final. Hopefully there are no last minute hitches....
