This is not the right job to find out if you have what it takes to be a football manager.

Brendan in a panic and will jump ship........yes a hun just said that to me.

If anything it will make Brendan even more determined to win everything, he is a guy the thinks you have to earn your place so the fact SG has basically
walked in to the job with no experience will maybe annoy him, he certainly won't want a former player of his to get one over him. Brendan is a proud man
and has worked from the bottom up, nothing has been handed to him on a plate, i am sure Brendan will want to ram that fact down their throats next season.

This. BR will be focused on us and a wee bit irked at him and them. As if he hasn't ground them down enough, they consider doing this.

Investments, Singapore, Ashley... Moonbeam morning. Somewhere over the rainbow stuff.

The investment is supposed to be £120 million from some guy in Singapore.
Have to admit, that was my fear all along. That a guy from Singapore would chuck 120m at them by way of investment in a rookie manager..

Someone smart enough to have made all that money certainly wouldn't be interested in buying the entire clumpany for a fraction of that amount. They'd rather give it to a guy who is a convicted crook, confirmed roaster and who, if he told you his name, would need three pieces of ID before you believed him.

It's like a neesoap opera. Next week, Kenny and the the grass are in grave danger as it's revealed they are being kept in an underground dungeon. With champagne corks popping in the Ibrox boardroom and Stevie G high on 1million cigar rolled on the thigh of a Govan virgin and the mystery contents of the iconic Lucozade bottle, will the mystery Singapore investor hear the former heroes' pathetic whimpers as he cycles without a helmet down the marble staircase on the rickety St Etienne bike and crashes through the revolving door?
Exactly. The whole "investor" thing doesn't make any sense, unless it's one of King's dodgy mates looking to launder some money. If you were willing to stump up £120m you'd want there to be a slightly more robust plan in place than appointing a guy with no experience into the most important job in the whole company. A company which, by the way, is run by a convicted tax evader who's currently in legal trouble. Solid looking investment that right enough.

In the (highly unlikely) event that someone's daft enough to give them £120m, they still have the slight problem of needing to pay off a shedload of debts and then buying a whole new first XI (at least) and offloading the detritus in the squad, not to mention paying this mystery numbnut a return on his investment. And even then we'd still have a significant head start on them in every department.

What they want is a Man City or PSG-like owner who literally has money to throw away on a high profile plaything. What they'll get is yet another dodgy owner and yet another series of pumpings by Celtic.

Personally, I CGAF about Gerrard being appointed manager at Sevco. Indeed, it's hilarious. Laughable nonsense to pitch an inexperienced rookie youth coach against Brendan Rodgers' Celtic powerhouse, and for that matter, against Stevie Clarke, Neil Lennon, Derek McInnes, Tommy Wright, Stephen Robinson and even Craig Levein.

However, I am intrigued about the claimed "investment" / "warchest."

How much is it? Where is it coming from? Who is it coming from? What are the terms? How is it going to be introduced into Sevco? Does it exist?

And how does this "warchest" square with Sevco's calamitous accounts, the dilapidated Ibrokes which is in desperate need of repair, their ongoing financial losses, their debts, their £17m loans to directors, the secured £3m loan from Close Brothers (with its onerous terms), the kit deal with the third rate Hummell and, of course, the Takeover Panel / Court Of Session ruling, which is a tightening on King testicles?

And then there's the directors walking away on the eve of this "great news." Specifically, Potless Paul, the glory-hunting, blazer-chasing, spotlight-seeking Murray.

This appointment should make things interesting, anyway. I have no idea whether Gerrard will make a competent or successful manager but he’s a relatively big name, especially in England, and his involvement should help slightly raise the profile of our league.

To be honest I always liked him as a player.

Now, I temporarily despise him. Though I get the feeling, in the not too distant future, I'm going to absolutely love him

I wonder what he'll make of his first tour of the supporters clubs and lodges in Northern Ireland and gets his first up close and personal encounter with the 'tradishuns...'

As for Gerrard I don't know why anyone is surprised. I said on here when it was first mentioned that Gerrard would most likely accept the job. No inside info but for a first gig as manager he probably won't get a club of that size anywhere else.
Surprisingly it was a hun.
