What I would say about the huns business it seems more polished than it has been in recent years. McGregor on a free is arguably the second best keeper in the league and not to dissimilar for our own signing of Gordon. They've signed a young European CB instead of an over the hill player with no re sale value and an English centre back at a good age that they could sell in the future for potentially a profit. So arguably good business. Not concerned they will catch us but it certainty on paper at least puts them in a better position to compete for second and at least shows one eye pointed some what on the future.
MacGregor is arguably not even the second best keeper in their squad and given his age he has not been signed with an eye to the future
I'd love to hear who hail_hail thinks is the best keeper in the league

FF saying the Sun reporting a £6m bid for Morelos from you guessed it - an unnamed Chinese club
6m is it? I've never known a price to fluctuate so much in such a short space of time. Is he secretly made out of Bitcoins?

Favourite new Hun soundbite that I've seen a few times today is the; "Celtic are spending £9m to stand still" line.

Don't even know where you begin with that. Only a Hun could come up with such a gem.
Classic sour grapes from der Hun. Even if it was true, why would that be bad? All we have to do is stay still. Staying still keeps us far, far ahead of them.

No bad for a club that's battered the cheque book to go back the way.

Huns seems to be finding it hilarious we are spending 9 million on Edouard :ponder:
The concept and culture of developing players and making them better is foreign to hun. They won't get it.
they shop in Poundland and go for a scattergun 'quantity over quality' approach. They will never understand you get what you pay for as they dont even pay for what they get.

Re their signings:

McGregor is a stupid PR signing by them. I know keepers go on longer than outfield players, but even they show signs of decline as they approach 40. He's 36 on big wages coming in to take the place of a guy 10 years younger.

Their two centre backs might be decent players. Obviously nobody's seen the Croatian, but he seems like the type of signing they should be making. Then again, I'd have said that about Fabio Cardoso, so who knows. Goldson again looks like he could be a decent player. Brighton fans seem to rate him, but I wonder how much of that is sympathy because of his heart condition, cause he's only made 16 appearances in two years for them. £3mill is a lot to pay for a guy whose last full season as a first-choice centre back was 2014-15 in League 2.

Murphy is utter pish and I was delighted to see them fork out for him. Arfield is a guy who chose to play for Canada at 27 years old cause he couldn't get in Scotland squads. He's a midfielder whose game is based on covering distance and he'll be 30 this year, and they've given him a 4 year deal.

There's bound to be an air of optimism around them just now because they've been so shampoo for the last 2 seasons that it's hard to imagine it getting any worse. That said, they've just appointed a manage who hasn't even finished his coaching badges, so you never know.

The penultimate question you posed has a very straight forward answer.
Which I'd imagine goes like this, "Yes, they are."

Previous years would suggest they really are. The league is going to be pretty interesting this year anyway, Gerrard might not last till January which would be some laugh after all their usual bravado during the summer months. And then what? Maybe they'll finally realise they are finished for the foreseeable future.

I just genuinely thought there was more to the Gerrard appointment, maybe they had investment coming, maybe he is actually rated by some people in the game. I originally suspected they appointed him just because he was a big name footballer and it was in someway supposed to upstage us, or to say look we're still a place that attracts "big names".

Fool on me for thinking otherwise I suppose.

But please, don't effing call or hint I'm a Hun, really effing infuriating when your just trying to openly discuss something.

 agreed, open discussion, objective viewpoint, devil’s advocate should all be welcomed - it’s an online discussion

Huns spunk all their income to go backwards. Clownshop top to bottom.
Progress for der hun is getting the colour of the goalposts painted to the SPFL standard white.
If it was up to them they would paint them red white and blue.

Hummel still haven’t released any pictures of the strips, any humming Huns started to question this yet?

It's worth checking some of the mistakes he made throughout his career, for a laugh. Average keeper throughout, probably brought in "because he knows what it means".

The huns have their tails up again a la summers 2016 and 2017. And again , SMSM is on board with billy , bigging up sevco's prospects next season.
If we get a solid CB and a quality RB and sign Edouard , it won't be 5v0 horsings next season, it'll 8 nils and 9 nils

Craig Gordon. Otherwise if there was another keeper out there better than him I'd like to think we'd have signed him already. My understanding talking to huns in work is that Foderingham will be sold so bringing in a good experienced keeper on a free is a no brainer after all its exactly what we done with Gordon.

As for age I was referring to the centre backs they brought in. We've been in the market for young players with potential and by and large its worked. The huns near went bust again coming up the league buying journey men on high wages. Who knows if these new players are the real deal they could be more Josh Thompson than Ajer. For all the bluster about Gerrard the signings are a good mix what that translates into is another thing all together. As we know for every Dembele there is a Rasmussen or Pukki.
