presumably they'll be looking for gerrard to use his contacts and influence down south to attract players. nothing wrong with that

the problem of course is there won't be any big money signings because there is no money. that leaves kids and as we know, highly rated kids from down south are hit and miss up here

for every roberts there's a musonda. for every 'that rubbish guy from arsenal they signed' there's a luke/matt? goss

gerrard could turn out to be football's next great manager, no one really knows. he was certainly a good player

but let's be honest, there's nothing at this point to suggest that's the case and taking on the rangers job with all the problems and pressure and expectancy would be utter madness

I hope it's Gerrard. Look forward to the total mess. I'd hate them to do something sensible like go for Alex Neil for example.
They want to go with Billy Davies. Billy Davies would go with them.
Billy Davies would go with anyone anywhere Militant Tommy takes him tbf. :ph43r:

Jeremy Cross taking a flyer just as other papers are hedging their bets. Hmm. Not a single quote there, right enough. We should know tonight. Not that any of us should GAF either way. :)

Significant sums of money

I can see this being a challenge

They must’ve told him he can keep the money get gets for sales

Couple of million then

He’s a mug if he takes this - it’s pure ego for SG and Short term glamour for a team and fans desperate to to appear relevant - they can’t even go and get a solid decent manager - go for the one that plays to their ego

I’ll laugh ma nuts off if he says no purely for the comedy value

I’ll laugh ma nuts off if he says yes as well! Recipe for disaster

Best case scenario for them is they become slightly better - I’m pretty sure BR has plans to Improve us as well - so will the sheep and hibs - neither of who will turn to jelly at the very sight of SG

Overheard a couple of huns in the pub tonight.

Seemingly while yesterday was "head in the oven" material, the true must win game is against Hibs. Everything is geared towards stopping that bastard Lenny.

While I don't have much hope for Aberdeen, it would truly finish them if they were to finish behind a Neil Lennon led Hibs in the league
Is it not true though that if they do come fourth and we win the cup they get a Europa spot anyway and have to play less qualifiers than Aberdeen and Hibs?
All Scottish teams enter in the 1st qualifying round this year.
Cheers. So basically, it makes absolutely no difference to any clubs European ambitions if they finish second third or in this case even fourth?

On the radio they said second place get half a million more from the TV than fourth place so there's that to look forward to I suppose :)

It's almost as if the huns "brains" get reset back to factory settings just before a new manager takes over :ffs:

They are genuinely thinking the worlds all right in hun land and everything will be fine because they are ra peepul. He won't win a trophy with them. Thick bastards.

Quite a leap from "the star" there. No quotes or nothing new, the star "understands" etc..
Aye, everything else is just 'The Star reports...'

I have a feeling he'll take it. He'd have knocked it back by now otherwise.

Never won the league as a player. Won't be changing anytime soon as a manager.

Did you think McInnes would take it? I didnt. I don't think Gerrard will either.

I don't think I did, but McInnes is already a manager at a decent sized club, second in the league for a couple of years and reached a few finals winning a Scottish Cup.

Gerrard has no managerial CV outside of taking kids to play in empty stadiums.

Toxic King can't pony up the share offer. The other directors are maxed out hence the Close Brothers wonga deal. There may well be some investors waiting in the wings however given that nobody would stump up more than Chuckles and Co in 2012 it is hard to imagine someone buying out King and co. They have rendered the club useless and skint.

Rangers' press release:

Quote:

"We had a problem. And, uh, we tried to do everything we could.

You know what I mean. He's gone, and we couldn't do nothing about it. That's it.

He's gone. He's gone. And that's it."

Re having sympathy for him, that's one thing. Recognising he's been treated terribly is another. Your employer shouldn't be giving off the record briefings about your mental fragility for all the world to discuss. If that's the case, he should have been taken out of the limelight before Sunday's game. If the story about him not even being able to pick the team or talk to the players is true (aside from the fact he should have walked there and then) then he shouldn't have been put in that position.

Anyway, he can go back to being a convener on a Celtic bus without any conflict of interest.
Is that actually true? About him having been a convenor on a Celtic bus? :o

I agree - don't think Gerrard will take it. I'd hazard a guess that King has put his best offer on the table at this point - maybe before the game Sunday/first thing yesterday morning. It's not attractive enough for Gerrard and now it's a case of stringing this out to buy the board breathing space until they can come up with another squirrel/moonbeam or candidate to fill the post.
