They are, according to an old song sung at Ibrox, “the famous Glasgow Rangers”. But Britain’s soft-touch corporate law means there are plenty of less well-known versions of the Ibrox club too. Fancy your own Rangers? Then just incorporate one online. It will cost you £10 at the UK’s Companies House.
Everybody knows the back story of the blue half of Scotland’s Old Firm. The club’s “oldco”, The Rangers Football Club PLC, went bust in 2012. In a move which still lights up social media and radio phone-ins, an off-the-shelf business called Sevco Scotland Limited was renamed The Rangers Football Club Limited and took the old business’s membership of the Scottish Football Association.
This “newco” - now itself owned by another business called Rangers International Football Club PLC - bought the assets, including Ibrox Stadium, from the liquidated “oldco”, now renamed RFC 2012 PLC.
The “oldco” went under in February 2012. Cue successful applications to Companies House to register a whole swathe of near copycat firms, most now dissolved.

The very week the newco was created, a Rangers Football Club of Glasgow Ltd was registered in Kirkcaldy and a Glasgow Rangers Football Club Limited in Hamilton (which by May had changed its name to FC Rangers of Glasgow Limited).
Then within weeks, Glasgow Rangers United FC Limited was set up at a cottage near Dumfries, FC Glasgow Rangers Limited in Dundee, FC and then Glasgow Rangers FC Limited and Glasgow Rangers Football Club 2012 Limited, both in Glasgow.

There was already a Glasgow Rangers Limited in Buckinghamshire. It shared an address with another Glasgow Rangers Football Club Limited, which was shut down in 2015 and and its name taken by a firm registered at a flat in Grangemouth. Last year Rangers FC Ltd was incorporated in Paisley. There have now been a dozen different Rangers at Companies House, enough, to set up their own league. Just do not expect fans to chant “there is only one Glasgow Rangers”. 57 comments
Didn't the old clubs share go to Dundee or some such? New club got associate membership when they were allowed into the league. Brechin played Sevco late July 2102 and didn't become The Rangers til a few days later.
Sevco given given conditional membership of SFA as stand-off continues
The impasse between the Scottish Football Association and Charles Green’s Sevco Scotland Ltd remained unbroken on Friday night, with the result that the entity formerly known as Rangers Football Club plc on the brink of being granted an unprecedented temporary membership of the organisation.
With Green and his consortium still refusing to accept the conditions attached to the SFA membership they require in order to play, the compromise solution will see talks continue next week.
It will also allow them to register new players on temporary contracts, although any short-term agreement would provide insurance issues for the footballers concerned.
The SFL, SFA and Scottish Premier League statement read: "We are pleased to confirm that agreement has been reached on all outstanding points relating to the transfer of the Scottish FA membership between Rangers FC (In Administration), and Sevco Scotland Ltd, who will be the new owners of The Rangers Football Club.
Spoiler: click to toggle "A conditional membership will be issued to Sevco Scotland Ltd today, allowing Sunday's Ramsdens Cup tie against Brechin City to go ahead. "Following the completion of all legal documentation, the Scottish Premier League will conduct the formal transfer of the league share between RFC (IA) and Dundee FC on no later than Friday 3rd August 2012. "At this point, the transfer of Scottish FA membership will be complete." Consequently, Sevco will be allowed to go ahead with Saturday’s fund-raising match against Cambuslang Rangers at Somervell Park. That news came as a relief to Second Division Brechin City, whose Ramsdens Cup first round tie at Glebe Park on Sunday will be Rangers newco’s first competitive game. A cancellation would have left Brechin heavily out of pocket, having sold all 4,200 tickets for the tie (Sevco were still selling briefs at Ibrox yesterday, to season-ticket holders only). Brechin have also printed 3,500 programmes for the match. Newly-admitted clubs to the Scottish Football League are given 14 days in which to attain membership of the SFA. Failure to achieve that, for whatever reason, would normally result in expulsion from the Scottish game. The sticking point appears to be Sevco’s refusal to accept any stripping of titles and trophies if Rangers are found to have illegally registered players (a sanction the Scottish Premier League are unwilling to rule out) during the period from 1998-2011. Should the SPL stick to their guns then the concern is that the temporary membership would be rescinded next week and that Sevco may then instigate legal action, which could postpone the start to the league campaign, due to begin a week on Saturday. That, in turn, would negate the TV deal the SFL have agreed and have an equally deleterious impact on the SPL’s negotiations with Sky. Then again, as Rod Petrie, the SFA’s second vice-president, pointed out recently, integrity is “beyond purchase”. Ibrox chief executive Charles Green confirmed he had signed the agreement but vowed to fight any SPL sanctions, which could see Rangers stripped of titles. Green said in a Rangers statement: "In reaching the agreement, the board has had to take some very difficult decisions to gain SFA membership, including accepting the delayed transfer ban and paying outstanding financial penalties, but we are now able to get back to playing football and plan for the new season. "The agreement enables the Club to move forward but there remains an outstanding issue with the SPL regarding EBTs. "As we have proved in the last couple of months, we will stand up to any challenges that face Rangers and will continue to fight for the club's best interests." https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/9432583/Rangers-in-crisis-Sevco-given-given-conditional-membership-of-SFA-as-stand-off-continues.html

I thought they had "taken back control of the retail". This suggests they've just replaced one commission with another.
We don't give exclusivity to any of these outfits.

Oliver Burke has been linked to rangers. "In a four-year career so far, he has started just 22 games of football at club level with five of those coming in Leipzig".Seems to fit their recruitment style. The Oliver Burke mystery as £15m star's bizarre behaviour suggests he's had too much too soon - Scott McDermottA Bundesliga player, two transfers totalling £28m, full Scotland caps, but now Burke is heading to the Championship and nowhere near Alex McLeish's national team. Spoiler: click to toggle ByScott McDermott Markets Field, Limerick. It’s November, 2015 and Scotland Under-19s v Latvia Under-19s. The first time I ever clapped eyes on Oliver Burke. This tall, powerful specimen of a kid is galloping down the right leaving defenders in his wake. Even with a certain Kieran Tierney in the team, Burke stands out a mile. In 15 years of doing the job, I’ve never been so excited about a young Scottish talent. Ironically, that feeling came back in Toulon last week seeing Billy Gilmour in the flesh for Scotland’s Under-21 side. But that day in Ireland, it felt like you were watching a superstar in the making. The type of player Gordon Strachan always spoke about. Someone who could take the national team to a different level. He could be for Scotland what Gareth Bale is to Wales. He was THAT good. A boy in a man’s body with the potential to be a world beater. After the game Burke was full of enthusiasm. He’d only just burst into the Nottingham Forest side and spoke warmly about his family’s Kirkcaldy background. For those interviewing him, he had the full package. Sensational on the pitch and humble off it. But here we are, three years later, and Burke is back to where he started. In that period, he has been Scotland’s most expensive player ever – TWICE. He has played in the Bundesliga, been relegated from the Premier League and got senior caps under Strachan. Yet right now he’s playing in a youth tournament in France, ready to go back to being a Championship player. It has been a tumultuous start to Burke’s career. But you have to ask, has he really progressed? He was given the captain’s armband by Scot Gemmill for the Toulon Tournament. With that comes responsibility both on and off the park. After a poor performance against Togo he raised his game against France and fired a historic winner – our first ever victory over them at youth level. Burke then followed it up with a stunning solo goal in the win against South Korea yesterday. But during the tournament, the winger’s body language has been awful at times. He has been sulky, letting his head drop far too easily when things weren’t going his way. He was hooked in all three games and didn’t look amused as he went off in the Korea game. Even after that fine goal against the French, Burke could barely raise a smile when the ball hit the net. Watch it back. It’s only when Fraser Hornby jumps on him in celebration that a grin comes across his face. Why? Off the pitch, Burke didn’t appear much happier. Before that Togo game, all of the Scotland players stood at the back of the stand watching France v South Korea. They were together, chatting, laughing. Burke stood at the end of the line, silent, with his head-phones in. Of course, every player is different in how they prepare for games. And different characters make up a successful team. But Burke was Scotland’s skipper. He was supposed to be guiding the inexperienced players in the squad – like 16-year-olds Gilmour and Chris Hamilton. He has refused to speak to the handful of Scottish journalists over here. Even after a starring role in the France victory. Again, some will say that’s his prerogative. But it’s surly and unnecessary. He was meant to be leading from the front. Every other player in the squad didn’t have a problem with their media duties. What’s worrying, though, is that these characteristics aren’t those of the raw but confident young kid who lit up that tiny wee press room in Limerick. So what’s happened since? Where is the smiling, unassuming boy who had the world at his feet in 2015? I’ve interviewed Burke several times since then and he has been amiable. There’s a really good kid in there. And listen, just the fact he turned up for Toulon when he could easily have called off to go on holiday is worthy of credit. But you have to wonder now if it’s the classic case of getting too much too soon. That £13million move to RB Leipzig from Forest looked like a dream deal at the time. A world-class league, a team on the up, a new culture and chance to learn a different language. But as well as struggling with German, Burke couldn’t force his way into the side. Oliver Burke struggled in Germany In a four-year career so far, he has started just 22 games of football at club level with five of those coming in Leipzig. At that stage in his development, he had to play. Instead, his career stood still. The Germany move, as well as his £15m switch to West Brom in 2017, means there’s enough cash in the bank to never work again when he finishes playing. Maybe that’s the problem. Often with young players, when it goes to their heads their attitude changes. You wouldn’t like to think that’s the case with Burke. But his behaviour in France was bizarre, to say the least. He’ll be plying his trade next season against the likes of Rotherham and Bolton. And he was nowhere near Alex McLeish’s squad for the trip to South America, even with a glut of call-offs. He’s still just 21 so there’s still time for him to become the superstar we thought and hoped he would be. The form, the attitude, the smile on his face – they can all come back. He’s got the lot. And for the sake of Burke, his career and Scotland, let’s hope it happens. Otherwise, he’ll become just another sad football tale of what might have been. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/oliver-burke-mystery-15m-stars-12637699 I went to school with his dad who was a year younger than me and a celtic man

Was always going to the case that they'd need a new distribution deal that cost them in some way.
They have no Hun shops bar that one at Mount Doom and Ashley was doing them a favour putting their tat in his shops nationwide. How they expected to do things by cutting Sports Direct out is beyond me.

Hummel recognises a cash sow when they see it. 'YOU TEASE!' Rangers Hummel strip – Orange kit hint from new suppliers and supporters are loving itThe Danish brand officially became technical sponsors of the Ibrox club today as Steven Gerrard kicks off his managerial reign Spoiler: click to toggle By Gary Taylor RANGERS fans are excited after Hummel hinted at an orange kit on Twitter. The Danish brand officially became technical sponsor to Gers today after agreeing a three-year deal in April. They took to Twitter to confirm the news as they wrote: “Today we become official Technical Sponsor to Rangers FC. “Soon, Steven Gerrard and the team will return for pre-season and will wear our iconic chevrons. “Our journey together will then truly begin..” But eagle-eyed supporters spotted a hidden cryptic message within the GIF hinting an orange kit. As the post flickers, the Rangers badge and Hummel logo turn orange leading many fans to believe they will soon be releasing an orange top. @IL_Official said: “Yassss get the orange tap ooot” and @NaefearRFC said: “You tease!” @Brucers9 added: “Great work – a proper ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ hint. The future’s bright….” and @4_menhadadream wrote: “Oh Hummel I see what you did there.” The sports brand have also changed their Twitter template to orange after the post. The news comes following a fan’s email where he demanded an orange strip. Stores in Turkey were also spotted selling an orange Hummel kit after a mock-up had been made online. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/2723637/rangers-kit-release-hummel-orange-top/
Shouldn't the press be asking why an orange strip is such an issue for them? Exactly.
The Sun, however, decides to treat these hints from Hummel, of a new orange strip becoming available, as a very exciting and welcome prospect, complete with comments from the bigoted moronic supporters of Sevco. This, in the week the leader of the DUP comes to Scotland to perpetuate the stated aims of an organisation, founded in sectarian conflict, dedicated to Protestant supremacy.
I couldn’t care less about their orange strip fixation, it’s no more than we’ve come to expect from that bigoted shower, and shame on Hummel if they’re encouraging it.

Otherwise, he’ll become just another sad football tale of what might have been. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/oliver-burke-mystery-15m-stars-12637699
I think that he would be great for us actually. Brendan would improve him immeasurably and he does have the raw materials. He’s the kind of player they should be going for tbf. A lot of potential and playing in the SPFL might rebuild his confidence.

Looks like they won't be able to buy any new tops until August 1st, with JD Sports being the store selling them.

It is our understanding that this deal has been agreed however due to the legalities of the contract with Sports Direct the Club are unable to officially confirm the deal with JD until the SD deal runs out which is on the 31st of July. Never knew yoda was a hun

Looks like there scouting has consisted of Liverpool u23 players I really hope they sign 2 or 3 as generally they aren't good enough to play in the championship.

They talk about getting billionaires / millionaires to invest in their team and now the talk of JD Sports being the store to sell their gear they are annoyed that Mike Ashley has shares in this and some of their money will be going to him if they buy their strips from JD Sports.
I mean what's a billionaire to do with his money?
"Surely most billionaires out there are just chucking cash at random shampoo left right and center yet its not enough for this greedy fat tight fisted bastard whos hell bent on effing everyone for his personal interest"
