In response to a statement released this afternoon by Rangers chairman Dave King, a spokesman for the SPFL said: “It’s not surprising that Murdoch, having stepped down as deputy chairman of Telegraph Media Group, should be approached by other businesses in that sector.
“The members of the SPFL board were each informed of Murdoch’s appointment on January 19th 2018, the same day it was publicly announced in a press release from Independent News & Media PLC. That release was also circulated to the entire SPFL board that day. The appointment was widely reported in the national media at the time, including in the Sunday Times, Belfast Telegraph and Sunday Independent. No director raised this issue subsequently and it was not the subject of any board discussions.
“To be definitive, a non-executive position on a PLC does not constitute a business relationship between that individual and a minority shareholder in the company and therefore no investigation is warranted.”

That statement is a deep cut. One for the real fans.

What the eff is it even about? Is it Maxwell they are moaning about?
Anyone who can walk upright or had a shred of self-awareness about them would cringe at that statement.

But you just know the thick, pig-ignorant effs are going to lap it up.

They really should be looking for someone to give King help. He’s clearly having an episode.
He's following the Club 1872 line to the letter these days . They are effectively running the place !

Really, the SPFL shouldn’t have dignified it with a response. Like with any attention-seeker, the best thing to do is ignore the skelly-eyed bawbag and starve him and his club of the relevance they crave. On the contrary, now they’ll feel the’ve been noticed and have achieved something.

Suggests to me that they know something is coming at them from the SFA/SPFL and are trying to pre-empt it with a "they are all Tims/everyone is against us" kind of defence.

Only reason I can think of as to why King has decided to turn Ibrox into a squirrel sanctuary.
This

Holy Batshampoo. King is unravelling at a rate of knots. Traynor has obviously been ordered to scrape the barrel and dredge up any old crap he can to deflect.
King should be releasing St Atements on his bare faced lie to the shareholders about a fully funded offer and also, give them an update on how his UK bank account application is trotting along.
SPFL should ding him with a contempt charge for this latest ramble.
Edit never even realised Robertson of Sevco,is on the board?

This seems like a drip drip strategy from the GASL. Only last week he was calling for another investigation because an SPFL board member once referred to Scotland's Shame as 'the great unwashed' about a huner year ago in a publicised interview.
Drip-drip only works when the stream of allegations amounts to something more than a spoonful of cat's piss :lolhuns:

That demented gobscheidt King is at it again.

THE Club notes with concern the latest disclosure through the media regarding a business relationship which the Chairman of the SPFL has with leading shareholders of a fellow SPFL club.

This has given rise to allegations of non-disclosure and it is now imperative that we discover exactly the nature of the information supplied to the SPFL regarding this relationship.

It is equally important that any conflicts of interest, or even the perception of such, whereby positions within the Scottish football authorities could be undermined, or abused, must be aggressively rooted out of our game.

The SPFL, therefore, must immediately suspend its Chairman pending an independent investigation by a senior QC into the allegations and into the extent that other parties within the SPFL may have cooperated in this alleged non-disclosure. There is a clear prima facie case for this investigation.

Unfortunately for Scottish football, this incident immediately follows a similar call by myself for an independent non-executive director of the SFA to be suspended under similar circumstances. The credibility of Scottish Football in the minds of supporters and sponsors is at stake and urgent action is required. Transparency will be key to recovering the confidence of key stakeholders in Scottish football and this cannot be achieved if the SFA and/or the SPFL conduct internal investigations.

The SPFL and SFA must now appoint independent investigators. Scottish football is an important national asset and must have levels of probity and governance that are beyond reproach and that are transparently so.

SPFL dismiss King's call for chairman to be suspended
No investigation is to take place into Murdoch MacLennan's business links to Celtic.

Rangers chief Dave King has called for SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan to be suspended pending an investigation into a business relationship with Celtic majority shareholder Dermot Desmond.

MacLennan has been appointed non-executive chairman of Independent News and Media PLC - an Irish media giant part owned by Desmond.

After being made aware of this through the media, South African-based businessman King has stated urgent action is required to uphold the integrity of the Scottish game.

A statement on Rangers' website said: "It is now imperative that we discover exactly the nature of the information supplied to the SPFL regarding this relationship.

"It is equally important that any conflicts of interest, or even the perception of such, whereby positions within the Scottish football authorities could be undermined, or abused, must be aggressively rooted out of our game.

"The SPFL, therefore, must immediately suspend its Chairman pending an independent investigation by a senior QC into the allegations and into the extent that other parties within the SPFL may have cooperated in this alleged non-disclosure.

"There is a clear prima facie case for this investigation."

The request comes just days after King demanded the suspension of SFA director Gary King after it emerged he referred to Rangers supporters as "the great unwashed" 12 years ago in a magazine article.

King continued: "Unfortunately for Scottish football, this incident immediately follows a similar call by myself for an independent non-executive director of the SFA to be suspended under similar circumstances.

"The credibility of Scottish Football in the minds of supporters and sponsors is at stake and urgent action is required."

With the speed of things unraveling at the Bigotdome now approaching warp speed, I can now reveal the reason that no photographs of Dave King at any old Huns game in the 1960s, 70s and 80s actually exist!
It’s because Dave was recruited to go in to deep cover and be a sleeper, so that he could emerge to do real damage to the Huns!
He’s managed to help kill off one version and is well on the way to doing number 2

I say let’s leave the guy to get on with things
