Yup, St Patrick's color actually, iirc. The Irish presidential flag is dark blue with a gold harp. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Patrick%27s_blue

Dark or navy blue with gold crest and trim could be real smart imo. I like the orange concept as well. Ivory Coast have had some nice orange tops.

I thought the flag of Ireland was green white and orange to represent the inclusion of both sides and peace between them. :ponder:

I'm sure we had an orange (more yellow) strip in the mid seventies. I think I remember being in primary school and the teachers sticking on the tic in some European game- so it must have been before 4pm which seems unlikely.

We played Ujpest Doza twice in the seventies and both games were meant to be televised in the afternoon
I think the one where the pictures came through was when we won 2-1, but in the other game we lost 3-0
and STV could not get the match transmitted for some reason. I distinctly recall Tommy Docherty in the studio
saying how we would be comfortable in the match only for the presenter ( Might have been big Arthur Montford )
repeating a message he had received by phone saying we were 2-0 down.

Had a look at the still pics on the wiki of the 2-1 game. We wore the hoops

Huns in for James Collins.

West Ham let him go as he was a bit part player, is 35 in August and oh did I mention, he's a free agent.

Seems to be a trend setting here?

Was an alright defender in his day, but hasn't played consistently for some time. A worse version of Alves who'll probably get injured if he's expected to play regular football. Was in the Wales squad who made the semis but never really got a look in.

Yes, we should appropriate blue and gold!! They are the colours of Our Blessed Lady, which is why they are the original
Irish colours. For the same reason, they are the colours of the Marist order who founded the club (and who also founded St Mungo’s Academy whose uniform is also blue and gold).

Great stuff.

St Joseph's in Dumfries also - dark blue and gold.

On a sidey, I was down working at Hetland Hall in Dumfries for a few months a couple of years ago and it used to be a Marist retreat before becoming the hotel. There's still some artifacts left there including really nice wooden carved panel that was part of the alter and there's also still an original rockery and pond hidden half way up the entrance drive on the left that was built by the Marist priests. Brother Walfrid it seemed is documented as having stayed there several times.

Hetland House was the Marist Order training centre in Scotland... unsavoury parts of its history have since been well publicised.

Were you there at the time, Otis? The history wasn't quite as unsavoury as the publicity made out. ;)
