KIERAN TIERNEY is just like every other Celtic fan in the world right now . . . Obsessed with Rangers.
All those supporters think about is winning Ten in a Row and lording it over their Ibrox rivals like never before. So, while that’s their be-all and end-all, I can’t see the Bhoy wonder KT going anywhere.
Atletico Madrid are sending a scout to Hampden to watch the left-back in action in the Scottish Cup final. They’re wasting their time.
The way I see it, Tierney will be going nowhere until he either wins a tenth consecutive title or Rangers stop Celtic doing it. Either way I just can’t see him being sold this summer. He’ll go one day, that much is certain.
As Brendan Rodgers said earlier this week, money talks in football these days and Tierney will eventually realise his earning potential. Don’t forget this is a boy who has already suffered two broken legs as a kid. No one will need to tell him how fragile football can be at times and how quickly things can take a turn for the worse. Fingers crossed he enjoys a long and fulfilling career. He’s a good player, the boy, and has the potential to go far in the game. Quite how far is impossible to say right now because, for, me it’s too hard to judge him. In Scotland every week he looks great. But let’s be clear, in European games Celtic have been abysmal and conceded some horrendous goals. Tierney is part of that defence, don’t forget. Look, I’m not talking him down. At 20 years of age he’s done brilliantly and it’s fantastic to see a young player coming through the ranks and grabbing his chance.
I just don’t buy this idea that he’s ready for La Liga and destined to go there any time soon. As I say, right now Celtic fans are utterly obsessed with winning Ten in a Row. It’s what drives them every morning when they get out of bed. And I think I’m right in saying Tierney is a Celtic fan, isn’t he? The fact he wears a green and white jersey on holiday says it all, really. Fair play to him, he clearly couldn’t care less what anyone thinks.
Me? I grew up a Rangers supporter and as a kid I would wear the kit on holiday. But I’m talking about when I was 11 or 12. It never crossed my mind to take a top with me on holiday when I was away with my pals. Let’s see how today’s final goes for him because the way I see it Celtic will have their work cut out against Motherwell. They’ll need to get their sleeves rolled up for this one.
Steve Robinson’s side have earned their place in the final by being a hard team to beat more than anything. They only conceded one goal on their way there. That comes from organisation and hard work on the training pitch. They’re physical higher up the pitch too but it’s not like they don’t have a structure. It’s too easy to say that, for me. Motherwell are better than that in my book. They’ll play long balls up to Curtis Main and Ryan Bowman but it’s not aimless — they know what they’re doing when they get up the pitch. Celtic will believe they have what it takes to cope with that. They’ll have confidence that they can play through Motherwell and, if need be, play the percentage game themselves by bringing Moussa Dembele into the play early. Physically, the Motherwell defence can deal with the Frenchman.
Where he’ll cause them problems is if he’s allowed to bring the ball down and turn. He’s brilliant at that side of it, a complete striker in many ways. If he’s able to get things his own way then we’re looking at the player who could be man of the match. Motherwell need to treat the final like the one-off game it is and leave nothing in the tank. They’ll have regrets from the way they played in the League Cup final when Celtic won 2-0, albeit that game turned when Cedric Kipre was sent off. I just think it’ll be a fascinating game IF Motherwell go about it in the right way. Standing off Celtic is just asking for trouble so they have to go out and be positive from the very first whistle.
That’s how Hearts beat Celtic. It’s how we did it at Kilmarnock. It was also how Aberdeen did it only last weekend. You need to be prepared to run harder and further than Celtic and, if you do that, you have a chance of stopping them. The fact history beckons for Celtic, with the double Treble there for them, doesn’t make things any easier for Motherwell. Rodgers will be emphasising that to his players before kick-off. But once the game ends, whatever happens, Rodgers will immediately turn his attentions to the threat he’s going to face from Steven Gerrard — and coping with the fact he’s no longer the big name in Scottish football.
If it was Celtic the SMSM would be grilling PL about where the cash was coming from and how are they going to get Pedro's flops off the wage bill. We owe the gentlemen of the press a great debt of thanks
Indeed.
It used to bug the sh!t out of me how differently the press covered us and them. Not anymore. Their contribution to the death of the old club and their assistance in the continued hoodwinking of the gullibles deserves our eternal gratitude.
Meantime I must get ready to journey to see my well run club achieve history.
"approx. 32,500 travel into Ibrox from out with the Glasgow area with approx. 35,000 traveling by Private Motor Vehicle. Given both of these figures, it is clear to the club that there is not enough current public transport infrastructure to cope with an increase in demand resulting from this proposed order.
Additionally it is believed that alternatives methods of transport do not have the capacity at this time to cope with current demand. The Subway network currently is utilised by an average of 4,500 supporters per game and there is no provision within the proposal to ensure a large increase in capacity.
Further Supporters’ coaches take approx. 8,500 supporters per game."
I know they're notoriously bad at counting but seriously? 32,500 + 35,000 + 4,500 +8,500 = 80,500???
I might be being trolled here, but the figures aren't cumulative.
The 32,500 thousand from outwith Glasgow will include some of those travelling by car and by supporters' bus. Those travelling by subway will, presumably, be from those who are Glasgow based.
If I had the necessary skill and time, a Venn diagram might make everything clearer.

By Private Motor Vehicle I'll warrant!
Indeed Sir. Chauffeur is cranking the engine as I type.

....by Private Motor Vehicle. Capitalised too.
Good morrow street urchin, what say you to earning one of the Queen’s shillings for protecting my Private Motor Vehicle while I join with my fellows in spectating at a game of association football ?
Ah, The Private Motor Vehicles - a fine 70's band. Who can forget singles like Just What I Needed , My Best Friend's Girl and Good Times Roll.
A shower of roasters - so obsessed with wishing to sound educated (a la Darktagnan), they end up strangling their native language and become a parody. Never change you knuckle-dragging throwbacks.

Had my first chat with some Sevco fans post-Gezzard appointment. Intelligent guys, senior professionals in their business. When I suggested they didn't have a bean to fund the new manager they retorted with a complex list of moonbeams, share issues, Hummel, shirt deals, etc. They even went as far as to suggest Dave King still had his money in SA, if only he could release it...
When I didn't show fear, and couldn't help smiling, there was some noticeable grinding of teeth. We really have to thank the press for a stunning job on the mis-information front.
Deep down its only the thickest of thick sevco fans that don't realise that some serious smoke is being blown up their arses by the gutter media/tabloids
I really love the one's who get tetchy and finish off with "ah well ah don't bother wae it anymore."
