There are 250 orange 'parades' per year in Glasgow, more than Belfast and Derry combined. Policing costs the tax payer 1.5 million per year. There are a couple on Sunday. They like to parade, they like to issue statements, they like to contribute the square root of eff all to society. If anyone bothered to video all the walks in Glasgow this year, I reckon they would be banned or severely curtailed for sectarianism.
I remember Duke Street in the 70s. It was like a Hun festival at times. Draw a line from then until now and you see a grass roots movement dying, shedding membership every year, increasingly emasculated by modern day standards of decency

Defoe and Lucas
Defoe and Lucas would actually be decent signings and better than what they have at present, but I just don't see how they can afford either. Likewise, Solanke coming up here makes no sense if he has any real ambition of becoming an England internationalist. EDIT: Just checked their contracts, all of which run for at least another 2 years. So a fee would have to be involved as well as astronomical wages (for an SPFL team, at least). Skrtel would also involve a fee too. They could afford the wages if they made the bulk of it a loan with no pay back period and that way it's not expenditure on their books and they don't pay any tax.
It would have to go through an Employee Benefit Trust, but it's worth a thought!
They're going to repeat history aren't they.

What makes even less sense is that they are supposedly going after these players and at the same time they are struggling to negotiate deals for Murphy and Cummings...

SNP - We will tackle secterianism...nae bother.
Until the issues you mention above are tackled(and they are banned) then I will try not to laugh when I hear them talk about ending it..
Uttrer nonsense in 2018 this mob are still about with their 300 year old mantra & portrayed as martyrs and family org. etc.

What's the reasoning behind their complaint?

There isn't one amongst us, not even tinsoldier, who could've raised their hopes so high this summer as the gobshampooes and lickspittles in the SMSM are going to. It's effing great, they're going to wet their already-pish-stained-pants further thinking about all the superstars on the back pages of these effing rags, and they're going to convince themselves again that they're in with a shout of a effing SNIFF of the league.
The Warbmeister, Murty, Pedro, Murty again and now big Stevie G, big Gessard, every single effing time they replay the same idiotic scripts and nobody has had the presence of mind to say 'hang on, isn't this what happened last time?'.
Nope, all we're going to see this summer is talks of SWOOP and COME AND GET ME PLEA with a liberal sprinkling of DON'T WRECK MY DREAM MOVE.
Then we'll pump them.
Then they'll realise.
Then we'll laugh. Again.
Oh Sevco, never change.

Know Gerarrds agent okay Struan Marshall. So knew he would take it if he was offered it. Gary Mac is pally with him as well (the agent) and is a big Sevco/Rangers fan. Been in his company & a nice guy .
So with Gerarrds lack of experience and Gary Mac's loyalties it was always looking favourable. Appreciate people on here thought no chance.
Defoe is on major paper at Bournemouth & Sevco/Huns would have to contribute so cannot see that happening even though 35 yo.
Lucas will not be playing up here period.

Next up will be Hutton from Villa. Had a few Huns salvaging over his performance in the playoff final last night.
Wouldn't be surprised to see them going for Lafferty and Naisy at Hearts. Just rebuild Sir Walter Smiths last side about 10 years later haha!
Wouldn't surprise me. I'll be shocked if Davis doesn't go back there when he's done in a season Seen him boarding a flight from Glasgow on Fri night

The slow death of the huns (again) will help increase the speed of the decline too, I hope.

An exclusive? GERS HIT LIST Rangers want Jermain Defoe, Lucas Leiva and Martin Skrtel as Steven Gerrard steps up summer transfer plans at IbroxGerrard is keen on a one-year loan deal for ex-England team-mate Defoe and a reunion with former Liverpool pal Leiva Spoiler: click to toggle Exclusive By Andy Devlin STEVEN GERRARD wants Jermain Defoe and Lucas Leiva as the blue riband signings of his Rangers revolution. New Gers boss Gerrard is keen on a one-year loan deal for former England team-mate Defoe and a reunion with ex-Liverpool midfield pal Leiva. He’s eyeing them to strengthen the spine of his new-look team along with keeper Allan McGregor, who has penned a two-year deal, and top defensive target Martin Skrtel. Defoe, 35, is just one season into a £65,000-a-week three-year Cherries deal, but boss Eddie Howe could sanction a loan while paying a slice of his salary. Gerrard will also try to lure 31-year-old Brazilian Lucas away from Lazio, who he joined for £5million last summer after ending his ten-year stay on Merseyside. Lazio would be reluctant to sell, but it’s understood he would be keen on a potential move to Ibrox and the chance to work with Gerrard. However Brighton have rejected Gers’ offer for centre-back Connor Goldson. As SunSport revealed yesterday, Gerrard hopes to bring the 25-year-old to Ibrox next season. But Rangers will have to up their bid after their first fell way short of the Premier League club’s valuation. Meanwhile, Scotland keeper McGregor was delighted after sealing his return to Ibrox on a free from Hull City. The 36-year-old said: “I’m buzzing and I can’t keep the smile from my face. “When the chance came it was a no brainer to come back. “I started training here when I was 12 years old, so it is nice to be back. “When time goes by it might not happen and you just have to enjoy your football elsewhere. “But once you know there is a wee sniff that it could happen then it was exciting. “It came as a surprise. John Brown gave me a shout two or three weeks ago and I spoke to him and now here I am. “I don’t know if I have unfinished business. I just want to help the club any way I can. I want to do my best and help other boys and get us back where we belong. “I want to achieve consistency on the pitch, winning a number of games in a row and hopefully that leads to trophies. “There are so many good memories. Even when I was on the bench you couldn’t write the script for some of the things that happened. “Peter Lovenkrands’ last-minute header against Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final, the 6-1 win over Dunfermline, Helicopter Sunday. “They still make the hair on the back of my neck stand up and I want to achieve that again. “Once I knew Rangers were interested it was the only place I wanted to be.” McGregor admits he hasn’t yet spoken to new boss Gerrard but can’t wait to work under him and No2 Gary McAllister. He added: “It is a coup to land Steven Gerrard. Hopefully he can bring us success. “At the end of the day it’s the boys who have to perform on the pitch, because the manager can only do so much. “Hopefully he can bring that winning mentality back. I’m not saying we didn’t have that, we haven’t had it consistently. “We have to make Ibrox a fortress where no one wants to come. “It doesn’t matter who we are playing, we have to go for the three points. That’s what wins you titles. “I haven’t spoken to the manager yet. I’m looking forward to working with him and Gary McAllister. Hopefully they are a good partnership. “Hopefully I can bring my experience to the squad. If anyone has a problem I will be there to give them advice because I want the club to be successful. “I’ve heard about the young boys coming through because I kept tabs on the club.” https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/2652433/rangers-jermain-defoe-lucas-leiva-martin-skrtel-steven-gerrard/ Why don't they at the same time come out with an exclusive that we want Messi & Ronaldo for next season (what's the difference , bloody rockets the lot of them)
I don't mind it as the gullibles lap it up every time, and every time their sailed down the swanny but GASL or some other 'True Rangers Man' (or absolute crook/chancer to you and me). At least one thing with the Huns, they're consistent (mugs)

Most people don't have the connections you seem to have, but the response is the same regarding players as it was the rumour of Gerrard.
Personally, I've no idea who they will or won't sign. I expect there will be some shampooe in there, quite a lot probably, but there might be a couple of surprises.

When you look at the names I don't think any are too troubling. Skrtl, past it and always looked shaky. Torres, no chance but definitely past it about 5 years ago. Solanke, who knows, probably better than what they have. Defoe, getting on but still a good finisher. He would have buried most of the chances that Morelos missed this year. Lucas, dream on. How much is that little lot gonna cost? Keep feeding them the names though. It's great sport.

I have a feeling they will front load their signings with 2 or 3, at most, big names e.g. 2 of Lucas, Defoe, Solanke or Skrtel, in this instance.
After that they'll be stuck with the current squad or like for like replacements.
As it stands, the 2 confirmed signings aren't improvements on what they have by any stretch. And 2 of the above four won't win them the league.
