Only 20 appearances last season...
Saving himself to THE RAINJURZZZZZZZ declan
Arfield is 30 this year as well  No wonder he's taken a 4 year deal. Who else would give him £20K+ a week, knowing that his final 2 seasons are likely to be less fuitful than the first 2 purely because of age / declining fitness?
Brilliant, isn't it? Signing a lad on massive wages on a 4 year deal whilst letting someone like Bates go because they're too stingy to pay him a couple more grand. And add to this all the donkeys they've got on massive packets already that they can't get rid of. You can tell the season book money has been rolling in, but it'll be soft loan (or 'overdraft facility') time soon enough, and then the fun will begin!

Gerrard going all Chares Green.

NEW DAWN New Rangers boss Steven Gerrard warns Celtic their days of ‘easy’ Premiership title wins are over
The Anfield legend watched the Ibrox side's thrilling 5-5 draw with Hibs at a Liverpool function in Dubai and can't wait to get started in his new job next month

Ge55ard talking to The Sun :boik: - I'm sure Liverpool & the Scousers will just love that !
The Sun even after Hillsborough had access to Liverpool press conferences only last year did that change, but Liverpool players were never to give the Sun an interview 1 on 1.

It finished Souness at Anfield.

Unless I'm mistaken, one of the points made by King when explaining how they would catch us, was to point out that we have a bloated squad and all   they had to deliver was a better first eleven. Well in the last year they gave added Jack, Dorrans, Docherty and Arfield to their midfield, aside from the others they already had. Are they all going to be playing then???

Not sure they really have much of a plan, other than throwing their meagre resources away on a series of players who would not make our bench.
From what I saw of their side on Sunday, Rossiter looks better than most of them. That's seven players for the central midfield when you add in the "wonderkid" McCrorie and before you start talking about Holt and Halliday.

Rossiter (contract expiry 2020)
Jack (contract expiry 2020)
Dorrans (contract expiry 2020)
Arfield (contract expiry 2022)
Holt (contract expiry 2020)
Halliday (contract expiry 2020)
McCrorie (contract expiry 2022)
Docherty (contract expiry 2022)

All of them have multiple years left on their contracts (with pretty much all of them maximising their current earning potential), and of the players list only none of them with the exception of McCrorie are particularly position flexible. I suppose Dorrans or Arfield can be the 'attacking' midfield at a push, and we've all seen Halliday at LB.

That's a hell of a lot of central midfielders. One more than we've got, and ours have far more of a balance of attacking and more defensive midfielders.

The first big test for Ge55ad will be how he plays along with the inevitable disciplinary issues, train wiv de kidz, 6am starts, tearing up of contracts etc which usually heralds them trying to get rid of duffers.

Don't know much about Arfield, but fully expect him to be mediocre.

Never mind the quality, feel the bloat.

So many players sign for the huns but damn few ever leave. They've got some from the garderner's riegn, some from the magic hat guy, some from the barking mad caravan guy and some from the handstanding stand in. If they don't start to get rid of players then the wages will cripple them further. Problem being, i'd imagine, is that they're on wages that they can't get elsewhere and on contracts the huns can't afford to buy out. Interesting times ahead.

The additional 2 years is the clincher I’d imagine.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
I like Lenny, in fact I like the fact he is an unrepentant FB even more I just happened to find that going tonto after blowing a 3-0 lead a bit daft

Guess that makes me a Hun FFS.

Some people think he is beyond any criticism at all but there you go

It's more the psychology of the wider situation.

Hibs were awful on Wednesday, lost the derby and blew any realistic chance of finishing 2nd or 3rd. Lennon blows his top after that.

Blowing the 3-0 (partly because they were chasing the 6-0 needed for third place) and losing to the Huns on top of that would have been a real downer to the end of the season. Hibs showed a bit of fighting spirit to get back to 5-5 - by that stage there was nothing to play for - I think that's what pleased him, more than just the opportunity to give a GIRUY to Huns.
Exactly. Despite blowing a 2 goal lead, I’ve seen our support go similarly tonto at pulling a match level.

Good player

Will improve them
Like Joey Barton and Graham Dorrans and Bruno Alves and Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings?
I've re-read my post a few times and I'm pretty sure I've not mentioned any of those players
And I'm pretty sure we're not living in the movie Groundhog Day, yet somehow the point your making seems to be one I've heard more than a few times on here.

Arfield will end up on the scrap heap alongside the rest of them

Absolutely. Most teams would have offered a 2 year contract on that wage and at that age. The Huns had to go all in with the full 4 as it was likely the only way to convince him - and he probably couldn't believe his luck when they did offer the full 4 years.

You'd have to assume Gerrard had some say in the matter. A full 4 years...is Gerrard going to build his midfield around him? :ponder:

Airfield is 30 this year

I thought he was only mid 20s, time flies.

One report says he has been injured since February.

I always remembered him at Falkirk as good, busy, advanced centre mid alongside Patrick Cregg who was more the defensive ball winner.

He has only scored 2 goals in the last 2 seasons though.

Will he be booed for turning his back on Scotland?

If he's on £38k a week then they are clearly driving the ship as fast they can into the nearest iceberg. Mayhem.
