Arfield's a decent player but he's about to get sucked into the midfield diddy machine. It's like an elephant's graveyard there, where average midfielders go to become worse. For a lot of money.
The midfield diddy machine

I'm having that!

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
DOF Mark Allen's name is being increasingly bandied about but he appears to have little to no influence on what's going on there.
With two personalities like Gerrard and McAllister coming in its difficult to imagine his influence expanding.
Arfield being linked and signed prior to Gerrard arriving and getting a look at the squad makes you think decision-making is as diffuse as ever. Gerrard is an unknown quantity but I'll be stunned if next season isn't more of the same pish as the last two years. More revolutions than a pirelli tyre.

Do they hate him as much as Flawless does? :o
I like Lenny, in fact I like the fact he is an unrepentant FB even more I just happened to find that going tonto after blowing a 3-0 lead a bit daft

Guess that makes me a Hun FFS.

Some people think he is beyond any criticism at all but there you go

It's more the psychology of the wider situation.

Hibs were awful on Wednesday, lost the derby and blew any realistic chance of finishing 2nd or 3rd. Lennon blows his top after that.

Blowing the 3-0 (partly because they were chasing the 6-0 needed for third place) and losing to the Huns on top of that would have been a real downer to the end of the season. Hibs showed a bit of fighting spirit to get back to 5-5 - by that stage there was nothing to play for - I think that's what pleased him, more than just the opportunity to give a GIRUY to Huns.

Arfield is a rangers fan, or at the very least prefers them over us

He’s a decent player and probably a slight improvement over what they’ve got

Gerrard sounds like a guy who is looking at Everest from a distance and thinks he can climb it in his flip-flops.

Given that he's signed for the mess fest that is Sevco, his teachers obviously failed him.

Rangers are set to unveil former Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield as the club’s first signing of the summer on a 4 year deal.
You can't fault the lad's ambition. :twitch:

One day they’ll learn to shut up until they actually start producing on the pitch. Yet again though, the rabid hoards will lap it up in their delusion.

Arfield is a good player and probably wouldn't be out of place in our squad. He's the kind of signing a team trying to challenge Celtic for the title should be making.

Which would be super for them, if it wasn't for the fact that the rest of their squad is utterly abject, they look like losing a good number of their better players and the rest of their transfer "budget" is completely imaginary.

He's not beyond criticism, but in this case he celebrated an injury time equaliser in a match that was completely mental and had looked beyond them ten minutes previously. I don't think any manager deserves criticism for that even if the equaliser made hee haw difference to the league standings.

If we had found ourselves 3-5 down to Aberdeen on Sunday and clawed back a last minute winner I'd expect our bench to be going tonto.

Is he better than Brown, McGregor, Ntcham, Rogic or Armstrong?

He's probably not even as good as Bitton. He'd be a sub at very best IMO.

So, aye, he'd maybe make the squad, but he wouldn't have much say in first team business.

Good player

Will improve them
Like Joey Barton and Graham Dorrans and Bruno Alves and Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings?
I've re-read my post a few times and I'm pretty sure I've not mentioned any of those players

Arfield is 30 this year as well  No wonder he's taken a 4 year deal. Who else would give him £20K+ a week, knowing that his final 2 seasons are likely to be less fuitful than the first 2 purely because of age / declining fitness?

Unless I'm mistaken, one of the points made by King when explaining how they would catch us, was to point out that we have a bloated squad and all   they had to deliver was a better first eleven. Well in the last year they gave added Jack, Dorrans, Docherty and Arfield to their midfield, aside from the others they already had. Are they all going to be playing then???

Not sure they really have much of a plan, other than throwing their meagre resources away on a series of players who would not make our bench.
