McCann’s move to Rangers seemed to take an age to complete
I wondered if he might have been stalling to see if Celtic would make a last ditch offer. There was talk of Celtic signing him when he was still at Dundee.
There was talk at the time that his agent approached Celtic on his behalf to see if we would match the Huns offer A guy I worked with at the time was a cousin of McCann's- not that close to him by his own admission, but well up on the family gossip. According to him McCann had been waiting for the call from Celtic for most of his career, even allegedly knocking back a move down south to keep himself available for an anticipated move.
Eventually he supposedly ended up feeling he'd been strung along and was so pissed off he agreed to sign for der hun.

The Bundesliga was formed in 1963. Hamburg had never been relegated in 54 years. They were going for 55.... Auf Wiedersehen Seems they and the huns really do have plenty in common.
“Economically speaking, Hamburg is the worst investment decision of my life,” Klaus-Michael Kühne, the businessman who has pumped millions into the club, said this month.
This season has been even more chaotic than most. Three managers sat in the dugout: Markus Gisdol was sacked in January after winning only twice since August, Bernd Hollerbach lasted a winless two months, then the reserve coach Christian Titz was promoted for what looked like the last rites.
Shame.

Moon Rocket speaks, "Whatever way it goes at Ibrox for Gerrard - and just like 12 months ago I expect that Rangers will take the title from Celtic - his arrival has quickly reminded everyone that Rangers are the only show in town".
Steven Gerrard appointment put Celtic back in their place and proved Rangers are the only show in town - Ibrox blogger Our Rangers blogger gives his views on what Gerrard should be looking to do this summer.
Spoiler: click to toggle ByJames Black Steven Gerrard's appointment as Rangers manager had the entire world talking about Scottish football for the first time in years. It quickly reminded everyone that, for all of their success under Brendan Rodgers, Celtic are very much still playing second-fiddle in Glasgow. The Liverpool icon's imminent arrival has generated headlines from Los Angeles to Tokyo, and pretty much everywhere in between, and is a genuine box-office signing that is going to make next season much more interesting for both sides. Everybody has been talking about the Rangers manager - with some of the biggest names in football tweeting their congratulations - while Celtic securing seven in a row barely merited a mention outside of Scotland. Celtic's fans have even spent the week since Gerrard's appointment - and their side winning the league - talking about little other than the new Rangers manager or some fairytale involving SFA licences. With Gerrard is yet to take charge of his first game, nobody knows how it is going to work out for the 114-times capped former England star but whatever happens, his appointment has put Rodgers under far more pressure to deliver than going up against Mark Warburton, Pedro Caixinha or Graeme Murty ever did. Celtic fans already have their side getting to a tenth title in a row and if Rodgers fails to secure the title next season - against a rookie boss no less - he'll be on the first train back to England pleading for a job somewhere. There have been some absolutely wild names thrown about as possible summer signings when Gerrard arrives at Auchenhowie to take charge on June 1. While the likes of Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres aren't likely to be spotted strolling down Paisley Road West any time soon, someone like Peterborough United's Jack Marriott could be a perfect target for Gerrard and Mark Allen. The 23-year-old hit the net 33 times Posh in the 2017/18 season and reports have said there is interest from Ibrox in the former Luton striker. Gerrard is almost certainly going to want to make huge changes to the squad of the summer and bringing someone like Marriott, who has potential to make an immediate impact and move back down south for a much-increased fee. If Alfredo Morelos is to move on in the summer Marriott could be a perfect replacement for the 21-year-old Colombian striker and should give Gerrard someone in his side who knows where the goal is. It would be big step up for the striker from England's League One but if Allen can negotiate a good deal with Peterborough he could prove to be a fantastic signing. There will also need to be some genuine, proven talent brought into the squad over the summer with a couple of central defenders and a quality creative midfielder something that has been sorely lacking. Getting a name of the magnitude of Steven Gerrard to Scottish football should be something that is going to help get the level of players needed to launch a serious title challenge to Celtic next season - even if it doesn't necessarily mean seeing some of Gerrard's former team-mates suddenly appearing in blue. With only three weeks until his arrival in Scottish football, I'm genuinely struggling to remember a bigger signing in Scottish football than Gerrard's - Paul Gascoigne 's signing in 1995 is the last really big one - and the eyes of the world are trained on Ibrox to see just how he gets on in his first managerial role. Whatever way it goes at Ibrox for Gerrard - and just like 12 months ago I expect that Rangers will take the title from Celtic - his arrival has quickly reminded everyone that Rangers are the only show in town. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steven-gerrard-appointment-put-celtic-12519819

The manager has a higher profile than the club and he thinks it's a good thing.

Thing about McCann was the singing caught on video. You can argue about a professional doing it for the money but to then join in like a proper DOB means there can never be a way back! Feck him, feck the Huns, feck the zombies Can you imagine a guy from an Irish Catholic family from Greenock selling his soul, bad enough signing for them but singing there songs of hate! how do you face your family how do you live with yourself, I personally think that has shaped him into the twisted wee shampooe he has become, his loss

Moon Rocket speaks, "Whatever way it goes at Ibrox for Gerrard - and just like 12 months ago I expect that Rangers will take the title from Celtic - his arrival has quickly reminded everyone that Rangers are the only show in town". Steven Gerrard appointment put Celtic back in their place and proved Rangers are the only show in town - Ibrox bloggerOur Rangers blogger gives his views on what Gerrard should be looking to do this summer. Whatever way it goes at Ibrox for Gerrard - and just like 12 months ago I expect that Rangers will take the title from Celtic - his arrival has quickly reminded everyone that Rangers are the only show in town. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steven-gerrard-appointment-put-celtic-12519819 They've been saying they're "the only show in town" since 2012, how much pirize money does that get you? Does it get you into the CL?
I suppose when youre so starved of success, any success, you claim almost anything as a rare species of victory. Stupid bastards
Every year, every effin year, they come out with the same crap, 55, rightful place, this year its ours etc
See you this time next year huns when you recycle all the same rubbish again

At least we know that Frank Zappa's son supports Sevco.

Any truth in the rumour that SG hasn't actually signed anything ? Met a guy last night who said he'd heard a whisper that SG isn't completely tied in yet.
As I posted a number of pages back: Bomber 2012: "Show us ra deeds!" Bomber 2018: "Show us ra contract!" There is something not quite stacking up in all of this. I’ve been told by a supposed ‘in the know’ pereon that Ge55ad hasn’t actually signed anything yet.
Mind you same person pronounced that Celtic had signed Chris Burke when he was still at the Huns,so.....
