Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Swap a couple of letters about and bounce back a few years...

Sitting in Da Vincis in Livingston where a certain Neil McCann was a regular as was 2-3 other Hearts/Celtic/Hibs players, when the bold bhoy Neil signed for Rangers I asked him WTF he was doing knowing his footballing and other allegiances, he replied big man I am on £2k a week with Hearts and Rangers are offering me 6 times that plus bonuses for a 3 year deal so my family and their family is made for life.

So I guess everyone (or some) has their price.
Neil McCann is an unprincipled, greedy bastard.
John McGinn is not.
There is more chance of Shergar winning this year's Derby than John McGinn signing for the huns.
They found Shergar????????

Aside from the fact he's a Celtic fan* they couldn't afford the transfer fee.

Wouldn't rule anything out based on that alone these days but when your granda is the former chairman of the club you're fairly steeped in it. For once I think BFDJ might be right about something.
Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. BFDJ may also be of a mind that signing McGinn, given his provenance, is a bad thing (even if the huns could afford him which they can’t).
Spot on.Between the lines he's saying "We won't sell season tickets if we're talking about signing Tarriers."

I think even that is giving him more credit than his waffle is due. It's all just padding to fill column inches in lieu of any actual insightful coverage in the papers.

The two BFDJ "articles" quoted over the last page or two could both be summarised as single sentences and filed under "stating the bloody obvious".

Article 1 - "Dave King should be telling the Rangers support about what he's going to do to improve their fortunes rather than floating fantasies about Celtic collapsing if they have one bad season".

Article 2 - "John McGinn is a Celtic fan who's likely to have several good offers on the table this summer, so I don't see him signing for Rangers".

There's not enough craft in his writing (or his ghost writer or editor for that matter) for there to be subtext....it's all just aimless waffle to fill his contractual obligation.

Wouldn't matter if they did , Derby is for 3yr old Colts , even Sevco at 6yrs wouldn't qualify for entry. :suspect:

Can anyone really see McGinn signing for the huns?
Not if he wants paid, no.

The big difference between then and now is that oldco Rangers were offering as much wages, if not more, than most clubs in England. They also presented a very realistic chance to win medals. Sevco aren’t in a position to offer either of these things.

McCann’s move to Rangers seemed to take an age to complete

I wondered if he might have been stalling to see if Celtic would make a last ditch offer. There was talk of Celtic signing him when he was still at Dundee.

I’m sure we were linked with him at the time before his move to the huns.

There was talk at the time that his agent approached Celtic on his behalf to see if we would match the Huns offer

No concern, I'm glad they allowed him, just meaning that I've no faith in the SFA to apply the rules properly when it comes to sevco.
GLIB has no standing in The Rangers Football Club Ltd (sevco)

Neither did Mike Ashley ..it didn't stop them then?

Fair enough the likes of McCann getting all that cash signing for them, but I still don't see how it's worth it. You only have one life and to be forever associated with an organization like that is a massive price to pay.

And it's turned him into an absolute bell end, his wee snide comments about Celtic are pathetic. I can appreciate people taking their money and setting themselves up for life but actually turning into a hun :boik:
