What is shocking is that the SMSM have printed that fairytale, from the Torygraph down to the Daily Recum (In Dante's Circle), verbatum without a challenge ! :nono:
I wonder if his "House of Cards " taunt will provoke Peter into a response or Desmond to raise the stakes even more ? :ph43r:
More importantly he has stuck a stick into the TOP Hornet's Nest & thumbed his nose at them publically - he's just a naughty boy who's about to be spanked !
We don't have to do an effin thing. After they've laughed themselves silly PL and DD will get back to the normal daily business of a well run football club. They'll be sending packets of playing cards to each other in the internal mail for weeks then laughing all over again.

At the end of the day sevco have appointed liverpools under 18s coach as manager, with last years budget to spend at best. Whether he can do any better than pedro or warbiola (who were vastly more experienced coaches) remains to be seen.

It's not much of a risk for gerrard really, but it could easily blow up in kings face. I guess it wont matter as he will get the season ticket dough and that's all that really matters for now.

A small fragment of madness but the Martin O'Neill point King makes is laughable. He's right in one sense that it was nonsense for Dick Advocaat to say Celtic could never catch Rangers, and that Rangers now could never catch Celtic. But MON wasn't an untried manager, he had gotten Wycombe promoted twice, won two League Cups with Leicester and got them in the top half of the Premiership three years in a row. We ponied up for a tested manager to spend millions on quality players. King is throwing in a guy who's got one season's worth of U18 experience behind him armed with Andy Halliday, Carlos Pena and a few million quid.

Interesting very few have picked out the O'Neill comment. MON inherited Henrik Larsson, had significant resources made available to him, had European experience had won domestic trophies and at the time was one of the most sought-after after managers in the English Premier League. And then you've Steven Gerrard

As an aside, i just arrived in work and the Huns in the office are tying themselves in knots doing the maths to figure out how much Gerrard has to work with. So far we have £6m from King, £10m from Hummel, £12m from Morelos and then maybe another £5 to £10m from season ticket sales. "That roughly works out at the £30m that King guaranteed us." :ffs:

The key thing for me from King's witterings is that he really cannot picture any way a football club can be a success without the multi-millions from the Champions League. He literally has no concept that it's possible to operate within your known budgets, and take any European income as a bonus.

Sure, things are tighter at Celtic if we fail to qualify for the Champions League, but we have money in the bank and tens of millions of talent in the squad because of good recruitment, something Sevco has decided is beneath them.

He's learned absolutely nothing from the death of Rangers.

Long may he reign.

Dave King: Celtic's domestic dominance is like a "pack of cards" - one Scottish title win is all Rangers need
Matthew Lindsay @MattLindsayHTChief Football Writer
[IMG]
Rangers chairman Dave King leaves Ibrox after giving a media briefing.

RANGERS chairman Dave King last night compared Celtic’s domestic dominance to “a pack of cards” and predicted just a single Scottish title win could tip the balance of power in favour of the Ibrox club.

The South Africa-based businessman revealed that Rangers hope to raise £6 million from a share issue “by the end of June”.

He confirmed that Steven Gerrard, the Liverpool and England great who was appointed manager on Friday, will be money to spend in the transfer market.

And he predicted that taking the income from the Champions League group stages – something which is worth in excess of £30 million – away from Celtic would enable Rangers to compete with them.

Asked how Rangers could challenge Celtic again, King said: “We appoint a manager who can win games, with more resources, and we take one league away from Celtic.

“We only need one league. We don’t need two or three. We need one. Once we take one away, it’s a pack of cards.

“With all Celtic’s resources they are not a million points away from Aberdeenor Hibs. They (Aberdeen and Hibs) have resources that are far less than what we have at the moment. We are bringing in a manager we think can tip the balance in our favour.

“Celtic’s costs structure is more like we were 10 years ago. We needed Champions League football and if we went into the Europa League we were in trouble because the cost structure was so high.

“Take that away for one season and it will change the numbers in the Celtic side very, very quickly. They have the comfort levels we once had of knowing we were going to get Champions League money.

“We have to take that away from them and hopefully we have started that process on Friday.”

King added: “Do Celtic’s resources put them beyond you forever? The answer is clearly no. We have seen the cycle. I was with Rangers when we thought Celtic would never catch up, never in a hundred years.

“Dick Advocaat said they would never, ever catch up. I think it lasted 11 minutes into the next game we played against them when we went 3-0 down. They caught up and then went past us because Martin O’Neill came in and figured out a different way to do it.

“You need the right management structure to do it. At the moment we’ve gone more top heavy on management because we have invested in the squad and struggled with stability in the manager’s office. We’ve gone the other way. We have now gone very, very strong in the management squad.

“It depends on if they decide to invest or how well they invest. Celtic might be over-resourced, but you can still only play 11 players. They have a big squad earning a lot of wages, but these wages are not all getting on the pitch. There are opportunities there.

“If it’s hard then it’s harder for both of us. We don’t have to guarantee it, we have to narrow the gap against Celtic. So if Celtic are not getting it then that’s fine in that sense. It’s bad for Scottish football, but it doesn’t create a gap between us.”

We’re doomed :Bye:

He doesn’t know if Gerrard wants to gut the squad apparently, reading those answers.

Feck me, does King actually know anything about football, or even watch their games?

They keep banging on about how close the 3-2 game was as the indication that they’re closing the gap, forgetting conveniently that in the last 3 games in 7 weeks we pumped them 12-2. Some gap ya reptiles.

If Gerrard bothered his erse to watch those games back, adding in the weekend game v Kilmarnock where they managed one attempt on target, he’ll want 15 out and 15 in pronto. Balance that small task a-hole.

That King interview is something else. He's a bit like Donald Trump.

Every now and then they need some hope to make it all the sweeter when they fail. Over the last few years Whyte, Green, King, Warburton, Pedro and even Murty have made at various points brought them complete euphoria, made them think everything would be ok. They are so gullible.

It’s a pack of cards? I think a house of cards. And it isn’t even that even if all the devils in Hell conspired to help them win.

To be so wrong so consistently in such a short sentence is quite an achievement.

As well as Larsson, MoN had Lambert, Petrov, Lubo, McNamara, Stubbs, Mjallby. That's at least half a team that was good enough to beat Rangers with the right coaching. Gerrard has pretty much nothing to work with and needs a whole new team.

MoN also brought John Robertson and Steve Walford with him. Gerrard is bringing Gary McAllister, who was a flop as a manager.

Dave Kings Q&A.
The TOP is an irrelevance and nothing to do with the club and wants the media to stop talking about it. DK on TOP "I have spent a lot of my life with people telling me what they are going to do to me. Twenty years. I’m still here". Also saying that they never sold Morales because the money wouldn't be used to pay loans they have an agreement that it would be investe din the squad. He also says that Pena cannot come back to the club until January.

I bet he does, and they will have discussed it and their plans for the season ahead. Of course they would. He just doesn't want to let the huns know before they pay for their season tickets.
