The whole thing seemed to stem from folk refusing to believe that Gerrard would take the job without being promised an incredible transfer kitty. But this was a guy seriously considering accepting the MK Dons job last year. And as I pointed out the other day (rather flippantly admittedly), Paul Scholes tried and failed to land the Oldham job a few months ago. I’ve no idea why people think Gerrard has great bargaining power as a manager or a wealth of amazing job offers on the table. His choice for next season was between managing Rangers’ first team or managing Liverpool’s kids. Beyond that, he could have applied for the vacancies at Barnsley or Chesterfield. This is about as good as it gets for a rookie manager - even one who was an outstanding player.
Essentially.... yup.

He'll probably end up with less brass that the last years action man, how much will depend on how many they can offload and who's willing to pay for them if anyone.

He could then turn out to be a pretty good manager and get them a solid second... or not. But that's about it unless we do something deranged. Their best expectation is a solid second if he clears out the dross for a decent price, makes some astute buys and becomes a really good manager really quickly.

Glory days back for der hun.

Imagine your wife took up with a gangster and serious threats were made on your well being at the same time your protector has suddenly been removed from the picture. Then a job offer in another country comes up that removes you from harms way and keeps you in the public eye at the same time.

Would you be bothered about the finer points of that timely job offer?
Has Alex done a runner?
The story about Alex and the gangster is an old one, Gerrard was a young lad at Liverpool at the time. I don't believe it is particularly relevant anymore, it certainly isn't brought up in Scouseland anymore. I work in Liverpool and booze in a Liverpool supporting pub. I think the murder on the St Helens Linkway is a mere coincidence.
Cheers. I remember there were stories about her about 10 years or so ago, just wondering if there had been a new development.

The hordes seem to have rationalised that they're going to be loaded because they have '3m from hummel and 5m from shirt sales'.

Yes, they're getting both of those. Apparently kit manufacturers don't make any money from kit sales while paying 3m to sell them, now.
It seems also vital that they find 128,000 people who want to buy their 3rd rate rags.

I salute their optimism.

I am no economist but surely every share issue reduces the value of existing shares. There is no added value to the company - it is just a way of parting fools/orcs from their money. Also, surely the share offer the GASL must make will be effected? If they go on having share issues the value of each share currently must be bombing rather than sticking at 27p or whatever it is. Not that I gaf the sooner that horde is out of business for good the better.

This I did find strange.

He might be a coup in terms of a name, but he was in no position to start listing his demands given he’s a complete unknown as a manager.

I mean, FFS, we didn’t want exactly hand Brendan the sort of warchest they were all ranting about ha ha ha

They seem to be clinging to a rumour that further info from the press conference has been embargoed until 23.00??

Anything kept under wraps until late at night is never good news.

What time is it in China at 23.00 our time.

I can see how the ignorant and gullible plebs can be taken in by the machinations of the mendacious Dave King but the other directors are businessmen and really ought to know better. What’s their excuse?

So, given the outstanding issue of the court ruling on King’s offer for shares are they not prevented from having a share issue at this time?

It's just great isn't it?

Whole thing. All of it.
Them there, us here.
Magic times.

I could go on to describe why its all great but... why even bother? It would take ages and I'd rather spend my time enjoying the moment.

I'll leave you with my first thought - Its great isn't it?

People need to realise that King is good at telling people what they want to hear and as the judge in SA said, he’s a glib and shameless liar.
No doubt he sold SG the line about Scottish football being poor, the zombies being better than Murtry was getting from them, that he only had to beat Brendan, that Morelos was like £10M in the bank and that more money was on the way.
SG has the ego that says naff this working with U18s or U20s for a few years, I’m SG I can do this no bother!
Basically two conmen thinking they can out smart everyone else!
SG problem being that King has been conning people for years and is much better at it. He also knows that he has plenty of friends in the media that will excuse him when it all goes pear shaped.
My only quibble is that the £6M announcement will give our board the ammo to say that we don’t need to spend too much to see SG off!
Our board are already looking at maintaining and growing the squad for Europe.

They know where the future and the cash is. The budget is no longer confined to how we perform in the SPFL.

The Huns are sheer comedy.

After this massive let down, they’re now adding up player sales to top up Stevie G’s warchest.

There will obviously be a massive queue of clubs lining up with open cheque books to take all their shampooe ha ha ha
Their latest ludicrous rumour is that the “real” big news is embargoed until 11pm, hence the damp squib of an announcement earlier. Once again, it’s the hope that kills them.
There isn’t any big news embargoed. This was done to prevent any questions being asked at Gerrard’s unveiling. The compliant press pack were told that King would address all financial issues on Monday.

Of course, no one asked him a hard question.
 a day of happiness and compliance in return for the financials on Monday.

Stopped the last home game of the season turning into a protest.

Just about stopped the team imploding in the league.

A bit of a boost to the STs.

Mission accomplished.

No news delivered today.

The press corps was “duped”.

It’s a great PR stunt and will undoubtedly sell season tickets. But Gerrard wants to break into management and, as far as I can tell, had no other major offers on the table. I doubt he took much persuading.

If there is any embargo on bad news,I'd guess that 11pm just gives GASL time to get out of the country. :Bye:

Think this is becoming increasingly more likely (and obvious). If there was a “warchest” of any kind it’d go toward securing a proven manager. Has any manager ever, in history, turned up at his first job and demanded an unrealistic budget and the board have obliged and even gone out their way to make it happen? Bending over backwards for an entirely unproven and unknown quantity doesn’t happen. Even for those mad bastards.

The truth is, Gerrard going to the Huns is being sold as a coup for the Ibrox outfit. In actual fact, the Huns giving him this job as a starting platform is a much bigger coup for Gerrard, who probably can’t believe he’s been handed the keys to a 50,000 seater stadium and a team who’ll go into Europe in some capacity.
