"Before Gerrard graced us with his presence, the small but beautiful Ibrox suite resembled a wedding party waiting for the bride. An odd silence descended, none of us really knew what to do and there was an awful lot of cameras."
First in what shall become a long line of complete and utter garbage form SMSM. It will be beaten on a daily basis, sad to say!

Ok guys and gals here the scenario. ..If the Huns finish forth would you prefer:
A. A Double Treble. A historic achievement never before seen in the league.
or
B. Throw the final so Sevco miss out on Europe.
Its a toughie... Even if they finish second they will only have a couple of qualifiers in the europa and be out on their arse. It’s more a summer holiday than a European run

Aye, he’s having the official press conference again but this time when they open the gates, it’s a fiver to get in. The big 120m investment swindle awaits
Will be interesting to see what it actually is. If it’s any kind of genuine investment it will certainly spice things up in the league for us. It would have to be an obscene amount right enough. If it’s any kind of pitiful amount it will be more hilarity. Have they signed their Hummel deal btw? King isn't stupit, he knows rumours of investment will get a few more idiot bears in renewing season tickets over the weekend.
On Monday my guess is Allan McGregor or Scott Airfield or both will be unveiled.

teletext saying Gerrard wants Skrtel as his first signing - i assume he's on a free.
Apparently not. He’s contracted to Fenerbahce until June 2019 so would cost Sevco in the region of £7 to secure his services. It’s not happening I hope it’s not £7 all up front. They will want to pay in instalments over 5years

Since a new share issue is fraught with TOP complications and would severely dilute all existing holdings, there are only 2 ways I can see new investment coming in. One is a straight forward interest free loan from someone who doesn't care if he/she sees their money again, or a billionaire looking for a plaything who will buy King out and take the clumpany private, like Chelsea for example.
Naming rights for the stadium .

Not that I imagine he cares but I owe remy an apology for doubting his source. I'd made up my mind that no one with Gerrard's contacts could be so stupid as to tie themselves to the mast of that sinking ship. It's weird that although this is absolutely fantastic new for us, I'm still annoyed that the thick scouse could be so stupid. But I have no doubt in my mind that this is going to be a lesson in humiliation for him and a lot of fun for us. Good appointment, nice subplot to the league. No hope of success. I'll take it.
It’s a good appointment for the SPFL with the broadcasting rights coming up for grabs within the next few weeks. That’s about all I can think of when it comes to positivity. agreed, it’s good exposure and will be of interest to many Looking at the BBC itself they are all over the story And I looked at L’Equipe and Il Gazzetta Della Sport and they both had stories about it, Il Gazzetta had more than one story

Do the huns actually think we are beelin'? Maybe it's the circles I move in but I haven't met a Celtic fan who isn't pleased with this to some degree.
If you were to ask me to pick a manager who would have both a positive affect on us and a negative affect on the huns I think I would struggle to pick better than Gerrard. It's utter madness. And not that I really care but it's also good for Liverpool.
The only argument I've heard from them, if you can call it an argument, is that he MIGHT turn out to be an excellent manager. Warburton MIGHT have turned out to have been an excellent manager. Pedro MIGHT have turned out to have been an excellent manager. Murty MIGHT have turned out to have been an excellent manager. Stevie the IT guy MIGHT have turned out to have been an excellent manager. The huns at this point need a hell of a lot better guarantee than MIGHT.

I hope it’s not £7 all up front. They will want to pay in instalments over 5years The headline says one of Gerrard's targets is Solanke, but no mention of him in the article. It does mention that Skrtel sent him a good luck messages so that will be him joining.
'Bring it on' New Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has a list of transfer targets – headed by Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke on loan The Liverpool legend was unveiled as the new Ibrox boss and revealed he knocked back EIGHT other offers to step into the dugout
Spoiler: click to toggle By Andy Devlin STEVEN GERRARD grasped his first management job at Rangers and roared: Bring it on. The Liverpool legend was unveiled as the new Ibrox boss and revealed he knocked back EIGHT other offers to step into the dugout. As SunSport exclusively revealed last week, the former England captain was Gers’ No1 target to take charge at Ibrox and will officially start on June 1 on a four- year deal. Gerrard said: “The first phone call came from Liverpool. They made me aware Rangers had been in touch and wanted to speak to me. “It wasn’t a call I was expecting. I had a special feeling in my stomach. “My reply was ‘Yes, I’d like the opportunity to speak to Rangers’. “The size of the club, the history, the values this club has, I feel I’m a good fit. “I feel like me and this club can have a special connection. I’m looking forward to the fun we can have together. “Before Rangers, I probably would have stayed where I was. “I had probably as many as eight other opportunities to be a manager, to be a No2, to be a coach, since I came home from Los Angeles. “But I never got the right feeling from them. “When Rangers came, it was a game-changer. “I love a challenge. I know there will be a lot of scrutiny and pressure, but that’s what I love about being involved in football. Bring it on.” Gerrard replaces Pedro Caixinha, seven months after the Portuguese coach was sacked, and has a list of transfer targets — headed by Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke on loan. Interim boss Graeme Murty was sacked earlier this week, meaning Jimmy Nicholl and Jonatan Johansson will take the team for the last three games of the season. Critics claim Gerrard’s appointment is a gamble, but the man himself said: “I have confidence in my ability. “I have weighed the gamble up and the risk and I understand other people thinking it is because it is my first job in management, but I have confidence in myself that I can deliver for these supporters. “That’s the only thing that matters to me. Do I think I can do a good job as the manager of Glasgow Rangers? In my mind, it’s yes. “My parents brought me up to always front a challenge. If you feel like that challenge is the right one for you, go for it, give it your best shot. That’s exactly what I’m going to do here. “Pressure’s not a bad thing for me. I played under pressure, I have lived under pressure since I left school. “In football, if you are working under pressure you’re in a good place. “Since I stopped playing football, I have missed that pressure. “I don’t mind being under intense pressure. “I knew that before I decided to be Rangers manager and I’m up for the challenge. I will do my very best. “The supporters were another big reason why I wanted to come here and be a leader for them. “Their loyalty, how they stuck by this club, is certainly one of the values I believe in. “I can’t wait to be leading this team in front of them.” MARTIN SKRTEL has wished his former team-mate Steven Gerrard good luck at Rangers after being linked with a move to Ibrox. Liverpool icon Gerrard was unveiled as Gers‘ new manager today after putting pen to paper on a four-year deal. And SunSport revealed that he could be joined by his former team-mate Skrtel who may join as a player-manager. Now the Slovakian has taken to Instagram to wish the ex-England skipper the best of luck in his first managerial role. He wrote: “Good luck my friend” alongside a picture of Gerrard in the Ibrox changing room. Ibrox chief Dave King believes the move will give Scottish football a new global reach as he hailed the agreement. And Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers welcomed his former player to Scottish football as he joked: “Welcome to the land of no sleep!” https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/2598438/steven-gerrard-rangers-transfer-targets-liverpool-loan-dominic-solanke/

Let’s face it none of us really know if SG will prove to be any kind of manager or not. The hype though is hilarious. Last night BFDJ sounded like a 13 year old hun who had just come across (literally ) a pair of his sisters soiled undies on their bedroom floor. Excited about players coming in, big name manager, at last a winner in the dressing room. SG win less in his career than Paul Lambert and look at his managerial CV.

Fantasy Island over there, no point in saying we couldn't give a toss as it makes them believe it even more.
Maybe we should play along and pretend we're worried, sit back and enjoy their tears yet again!
Not called the dumbest support in the world for nothing

I hope all the posters who are predicting that this will be a hilarious disaster are correct, but is there not a chance that this could work out for them.....? Stevie G has a great knowledge of the game and will also be able to attract some decent players. All that remains is to see how good a manager he can be. I think if I was a sevco fan I might be quite excited about the appointment.i know that the elephant in the room is money but there seems to be a "promise" of some substantial amount being made available. If nothing else, it will make for a very interesting upcoming season.
Plenty of players with knowledge of the game turn into pish managers. He's done nothing. I watched part of the press conference on sky news earlier, he looked like a wee boy reading off a script of buzzwords. Blah blah used to pressure and so on. He's going to do absolutely eff all. He'd be as well coming to his first game at Celtic park lubed up with his trousers down. I watched him chatting to fans at the big welcome inside Ibrox......Someone started An interview anda big minder guy could be Seen giving him the nod to move on........Gerrard is being controlled

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
And here they are in their third CL final in that period, not to mention an EL final as well. And a Super Cup. Go back two more years and you can add another Super Cup and UEFA Cup win to that. So that's four UEFA trophies, two other finals and another one coming up, all in the living memory of the vast majority of their support. In my view, a club that doesn't have a winning mentality doesn't get near that level. You may disagree with that if you like but there really aren't many clubs whose fans have watched their club attempting to lift a European trophy six times already this century and are now booking their tickets for a seventh.
no one in their right mind counts the Super Cup...behave yourself !! they have won eight proper European trophies not eleven.. (I know Aberdeen claim to have won two but no one believes that!! ) they are heading for their fifth final since 2000 not their seventh six in their golden era of the dozen or so years from 1973 to Heysel.. ..and I'm happy to accept they may have won more during the ban period but clearly they didn't/couldn't they won the Uefa Cup in 2001 and the CL in 2005...since then two finals..one in 2007 and one in 2016..both lost...for they ninth richest club in the world five European finals in 17/18 years is hardly setting the heather on fire? Sevilla have won the Europa League five times since 2006.. ..Atletico Madrid have been in four Euro finals since 2010...three different Russian teams have won Europa League since Liverpool last did.. and the only person making this frankly quite bizarre suggestion that Liverpool somehow see Rangers with Gerrard in charge as a satellite/feeder Club is you...not even the moonbeam artists in our media have come up with this astonishing concept?? So you think there's nothing in the rumours that Gerrard will take the Ibrox job? Okay. I take it all back.

Des Kelly was on Talksport this morning talking to Alan Brazil about the Liverpool game and then moved on to SG. Did anyone hear it?
A few interesting comments i thought, AB pushed him after Kelly spouted the "Positive Talks have taken place and will continue over next few days" line and he said similar to Roy Hodgson message.
Kelly said that they had chatted last night and that SG is still waiting on answers to a few things including the usual "Whats his budget" but the next 2 peaked my interest as it seemed that SG or his people are asking the right questions. Who owns the Club? Who owns the stadium?
If SG is asking these questions and is still considering it then he is thicker than i though.
If Gerrard did indeed ask those questions, he has taken Roy Hodgson's advice and then some. I can sense a "Rangers is a great club and I'm proud to have been asked but for family reasons I can't take the job at this moment" answer shortly coming to a hun near you. Great call.
