Any odds on him not being the manager by Halloween?

"I'm a winner"

Really? Here was me thinking you were the one that keeched your drawers when questioned against Chelsea.

The guy has had a career littered with almosts.

Ask Roy Keane if he thinks Gerrard is a winner.
As much I think this will be a complete train wreck, I don't think you can say that. League aside, Steven Gerrard has won every single trophy its actually possible to win at club level, including the Champions League. Roy Keane has never played in a CL final as far as I'm aware and he's never won it.

The reason Gerrard didn't win the league was his enormous loyalty to Liverpool. He could have went to Chelsea and got that medal but he choose to stay at the club he genuinely loved. That's a rare thing these days. As for his famous slip, that was just pure bad luck. He - and Brendan - should have got that title. We all know it.

Anyway, he's a zombie now so I want to see his dreams crushed regardless.
Keane's won the CL in 98? Gerrard was certainly a great player. He's in a new game now though- as others have found out, with more experience and real budgets.

There are no downsides to this for Celtic. Increased interest in the league and the prospect of a better TV deal on the back of that. It will galvanise the hun support, certainly, but will galvanise ours at least as much.

The one thing this has ensured is that the complacency that dogged our "difficult second album" season will not be in evidence next season. Another treble beckons. As does an early Euro exit for Sevco once again. I'm hoping the thick scouser lasts a season.

"Warchests" ? "Mega investment" ? "Red Bull" ?

Because it's Stevie G - A list player, Z list coach.

Or perhaps, just perhaps, Gerrard was desperate for a manager's job......but had only been offered MK Dons.

Then he got a phone call from GLIB and couldn't believe his luck.

share issue?...their last one raised almost nothing from fans...they cant have one just now pending King complying with TOP ruling...after that any money raised in a s share issue will either be used to repay loans (£20 million at last count) or will simply be a paper transaction converting these loans to shares with no actual money going into the club..

season tickets ...cant sell more than 40,000 odd thousand of them...at average £500 a pop that's £20million

merchandise...don't even have a strip ready for next year yet...cant sell merchandise you don't have...even if every season ticket holder spent £200 on merchandise that is only £8million in turnover...how much "profit" is in that

that £28 million turnover is less than we we get from CL entry..and of that £28 million, nearly £5million will be VAT to be paid to HMRC ;)

even if we don't get that CL money...we also have a bigger stadium...hence higher season ticket income...better merchandising operation too...better sponsorship deals...better players to sell.. etc etc

unless someone is about to hand them a sum in the region of £25/30 million a year they are nowhere near us...and there is no legitimate way that such money can be "invested"

I'm quaking!!

[/quote]You're missing my point a wee bit, I am saying this is not an appointment to challenge Celtic

I'm saying this is an appointment to try and get him (King ) out of the big black hole that he personally is in with the loans and stuff by feeding off Brand Gerrard

1999, Keane was suspended for the final, but I reckon he played enough games to get a winners medal.

I agree , this is a very positive thing for us.

It may even produce an increase in spending at the next window , depending on how much Sevco spend. We'll pretty much stick to our current plans but if they produce any rabbits from the hat our Board will up the stakes again .
Brendan and his team will be gagging for a crack at hunny G and mcAllister thats for sure , can't wait til we play them again . Our chaps will be focussed on "more than 5" this time , i'm sure of it !

That's a cheap shot at Keane. He might not have played in the final but he won a Champions League all right. His performance in the second leg of the semifinal in Turin when on a second yellow was one of the great Euro performances, and is acknowledged as such. He also won a rake of leagues. How many did Gerrard win again?
