If the Red Bull thing is true, that would be hilarious in its own ways. They'd become a feeder club for the likes of Lepzig and Salzburg, they'd be expected to call themselves Red Bull Rangers or some such nonsense, and they'd probably need to change their logo too.

So much for tradition.
Where is the Red Bull stuff coming from?
Red bull what happened to Fenway sports and being run by Fenians?

They'd essentially be out of Europe most seasons. Unless it was a simple non ownership sponsorship which would change the name of the club.

Leipzig are in the UEFA cup qualification place in Germany, so if Red Bull 'invest' anything other than a sponsorship deal then there's a decent chance that RB Rangers wouldn't be allowed to go into Europe.

i dont get this red bull crap , how can they have interests in more than one club? what if they drew each other in a European competition?
UEFA made them change their management structure massively last summer, the owner of RB no longer owns Salzburg and they no longer have a head of global football, another UEFA stipulation.

Not necessarily, most of the managerial contracts have a break clause which is shorter than the headline terms.

Oldham Athletic must be kicking themselves at turning down Paul Scholes’s application for their manager’s job a few months back if appointing a once great England international player with no managerial pedigree attracts this much publicity. Come to think of it, maybe we should have taken Tony Adams’ interest in the Celtic job more seriously in 2009...

RB Leipzig are already the most hated Club in Germany, so RB Sevco wouldn't spoil the set.

That's what happened with Pedro. He had a 3 year contract but got booted out with £3.59 in loose change and a toffee apple.

I hope all the posters who are predicting that this will be a hilarious disaster are correct, but is there not a chance that this could work out for them.....? Stevie G has a great knowledge of the game and will also be able to attract some decent players. All that remains is to see how good a manager he can be. I think if I was a sevco fan I might be quite excited about the appointment.i know that the elephant in the room is money but there seems to be a "promise" of some substantial amount being made available. If nothing else, it will make for a very interesting upcoming season.
I haven't seen any evidence of great knowledge of the game. You may not need it if your financial backing is such that you can buy top players and get one over the likes of Dundee and finish in the top 6, but even the previous clowns in charge achieved that.
Surely playing at the top level for as long as he has, under various top managers, you would acquire a lot of knowledge of game management, training methods and tactics. I know that he comes across as being a bit thick, but I would assume that he will have some management skills. It remains to be seen how successful he can be, and it of course also depends on what funds are made available to him. Either way, as I said, it makes for an interesting upcoming season.

I see this appointment as a bit of a paradox. I can't see Gerrard agreeing to take the job without a good budget. But if Sevco have managed to secure funds from somewhere then why would they need to risk it on a 'name' rookie with no experience? Nothing about this makes any sense. All that to say I think this IS good news for the profile of the game in the short term. In a way it pitches teacher against pupil - it will create interest and boy will it be enjoyable when yet another new dawn goes tits up.

If Gerrard had been appointed manager of Tranmere Rovers or Macclesfield Town this summer, no one would be speculating that he must have been given assurances about budgets. More likely, folk would be saying that’s a decent first step on the managerial ladder. My guess is that Gerrard can’t believe that a club with 50,000 odd match-day attendees has offered him a crack at management and he’s jumped at it, as the alternative for him would almost definitely have been a lower league English outfit.

As long as we maintain the narrative, stay focused on ourselves. Remember everything they are doing is a reaction to our success. As long as we continue that approach we'll be fine.
