Hartsons was funny. He was asked a question about his pre-season with Strachan, and answers it with a story of the entire remainder of his career up until his retirement. Wee Si kept looking at his notes with his questions but BBJ was just answering them all in a oney

Charlie Adam comes across very measured, a lot different to what I expected.

His accent is a bit strange

Sounds like a Scottish hotelier who's been in Blackpool for 30 years.

Came across as really fake to me.

Each to their own pal. I guess I just had an expectation of what he’d be like and it was almost the polar opposite.

Not listened to most of the last few. There have been some good ones, pretty funny in parts.

Ferry always talks extremely well of Tommy Burns too, as you'd expect, as do a lot of his interviewees.

The one down side in a lot of them I have watched is the apparent running theme that youth team level players at clubs nowadays don't know how good they've got it compared to what Simon would have you believe were salt mine shifts of days of yore.

This is coming from 30 year old Simon Ferry, interviewing many of his peers, most of whom, whatever way you want to cut it, have contributed to a stand out era of Scottish international and European competition failure.

Well aware there are exceptions to that. However it's a bit much hearing from players who achieved next to nothing at international level through youth to full international ranks talking about what's wrong with the way young players are coached or developed today, like their era was one of unbridled success.

Yeah that has been a running theme, sounding a bit like pensioners who lived during the war “these young ones these days don’t know how good they’ve got it”.

It's absolutely tedious. Coming from luminaries like Kevin Thomson too. :cuckoo:

Hartson talks about a semi final against Motherwell under MON when he got taken off just after setting up the only goal of the game for Maloney.

Anyone know what game he’s referring to. Can’t remember it all and can’t seem to find any record of 1-0 semi finals vs anyone under MON.

Cheers

I can remember Maloney scoring the winner when we beat them 2-1 in a League Cup Semi Final in 2006.

I think he might be referring to that game.I certainly can't remember a 1-0 Semi against them.

Aye, but he says he held off 3 defenders then set Maloney up for a goal then got taken off by MON.

That game was in 06 so MON was gone, Maloney scored from an indirect free kick and it was almost the last minute so unlikely Hartson went off after it.
