Celtic fans actively disliking McCoist are as bitter as Huns. He's a very likeable guy. He clearly gets on well with most people at Celtic and seems to have a lot of respect for the club, despite being a Hun.

Jim Kerr disagrees.

:ponder:

Explain? Not heard that one.

No offence but apart from being a Celtic fan & to be faor 3/4 spongs which are good uns Kerr grinds ma gears.

Hi australasia/calfornia come scottish accent is bizarre to say the least.

Just realised most of these are available as audio-only podcasts too. I don't always get the time to sit down and watch them - so being able to listen to them while on the go is great.

Great shout. Cheers.

Not sure I could have handled the audio only Tony Watt episode with him hawking phlegm up every 5 mins but the rest should be decent.

Strachan one was good. He doesn't half fidget for the entire hour though. He's got a strong mannerisms game. Distracting as hell.

Noticeable that someone a bit longer in the tooth controls the conversation more, which meant the obviously scripted questions were a bit out of sync.

Felt that it could have been prepped a bit better. Pretty basic to know or find out that Big Billy signed him for Aberdeen, not Ferguson.
Good point re Billy.

Also, Si though that Fergie signed Strachan for Man Utd.
I got the impression that Si was still a bit intimidated; trying to laugh at all of Strachan's pishy jokes  old gaffer, and all that.

Gravesen in Vegas is a great mental image.

Listened to the McCoist interview on route to work this morning, was really good, came across well for being one of them ... its absolutely brilliant how losing the league on the last day at Tannidice still hurts and bothers them .

It's not really. There are obviously themes, like youth development etc.

But the questions clearly focus on a rough chronology of an interviewee's career. It is an obvious theme to ask questions of his relationship with Ferguson, given their well documented history, both good and bad.

However it is fairly elementary background work to know who signed Strachan for Aberdeen and Man United.

It is clearly aimed at a largely Scottish audience, but I also would have liked to have heard a bit more about that Leeds team. Their title win is not quite in the same league as Leicester's in terms of looking like an anomaly (Leeds have clearly got previous), but is still a fairly remarkable event in the recent history of the English game.
Last side managed by an Englishman to win the league down there.

Cantona's introduction to English football too. Man Utd got him for a steal at £1.2million. Considering they paid £1million for Dion Dublin, it's some bargain.
Harsh on the big man, he couldn't have had less luck and done well to come back from the brink and eventually become a 7 million pound player.

Ferry is, with the best will in the world, a really bad interviewer but a lot of the interviewees are charismatic enough or have interesting enough stories to make up for that, and you don't actually get to hear most of these folk talking at any length very often outside of punditry. And he is a likable guy.

But these could be so much better if they had a decent interviewer instead of a slightly vapid guy reading a sheet of stock questions.

Simon Ferry is the whole point of the programme. He makes players comfortable and allows them to be in control.

Don't think they would. The reason they're so good is because he's a fitba man and well known enough to get players opening up. He gets their guard down.

Completely agree. The reason these interviews are different from your bog standard, cliche-ridden pish is because Ferry is a football man and isn't your normal journo looking for a headline.

I've really enjoyed most of them (even the huns) and listen to their podcast keeping the ball on the ground as well.

I suppose that's very true. It's just so frustrating that the guest will be talking about something interesting and entertaining and he swiftly moves on to the next thing on his script even if it's totally unrelated. In the Strachan one for example, he's waxing lyrical about Naka and there are so many questions you could ask about that... But instead it's a question about a random game against the huns.

Just needs to listen and react to the guest rather than sticking rigidly to the script.

McCoist was shagging his wife.
was that not ex-wife? since she was with LG at the time?

Dunno. I'm just assumed that's why yer man brought Jim Kerr into this.

I think the fact he's crap at it is really what makes it good. Who cares if he doesn't know the background details? He's only there to get them to open up and he's brilliant at it.
