Marvin Andrews is a helluva likable guy, might even go to his church in Kirkaldy when I'm next back in Scotland, posibly one of my most favorite interviews as the guy has no ego is humble and even came out witht he line "I have no place for bigotry or nuttin like that even though I played for Rangers"!!!

Seems a very good human being!
Mmm.

Bit of a player in his time in KDY, like eh?

And I’m talking off the field, eh?
does that mean he's turned his back oan God, eh?

Celtic fans actively disliking McCoist are as bitter as Huns. He's a very likeable guy. He clearly gets on well with most people at Celtic and seems to have a lot of respect for the club, despite being a Hun.

Jim Kerr disagrees.

:ponder:

Explain? Not heard that one.

No offence but apart from being a Celtic fan & to be faor 3/4 spongs which are good uns Kerr grinds ma gears.

Hi australasia/calfornia come scottish accent is bizarre to say the least.

McCoist was shagging his wife.

It was excellent. I'd like to see these be a little longer though.

Great stuff from Gordon.

Strachan one was good. He doesn't half fidget for the entire hour though. He's got a strong mannerisms game. Distracting as hell.

Noticeable that someone a bit longer in the tooth controls the conversation more, which meant the obviously scripted questions were a bit out of sync.

Felt that it could have been prepped a bit better. Pretty basic to know or find out that Big Billy signed him for Aberdeen, not Ferguson.

Good point re Billy.

Also, Si though that Fergie signed Strachan for Man Utd.

Don’t be daft. That question sheet is exactly the same for every interview.

It's not really. There are obviously themes, like youth development etc.

But the questions clearly focus on a rough chronology of an interviewee's career. It is an obvious theme to ask questions of his relationship with Ferguson, given their well documented history, both good and bad.

However it is fairly elementary background work to know who signed Strachan for Aberdeen and Man United.

It is clearly aimed at a largely Scottish audience, but I also would have liked to have heard a bit more about that Leeds team. Their title win is not quite in the same league as Leicester's in terms of looking like an anomaly (Leeds have clearly got previous), but is still a fairly remarkable event in the recent history of the English game.

Last side managed by an Englishman to win the league down there.

Cantona's introduction to English football too. Man Utd got him for a steal at £1.2million. Considering they paid £1million for Dion Dublin, it's some bargain.

Given Strachan never won the league with United, it probably competes with his Aberdeen years as the pinnacle of his playing career. Might have merited a question or two.

Captain of a team that wins the Second division in 89/90, finishes fourth in the top flight in 90/91 and then wins the league the season after. Then almost get relegated the first season of the Premier League.

Some midfield they had too. McAllister in there with David Batty and Gary Speed, and Cantona added in the February. The story of how Cantona ended up leaving France is worthy of a slot of its own.

To be honest, Strachan has a tendency to waffle on during this interview. In fairness, very little of it is not interesting, and Simon clearly lets his guests talk unlike many of these types of situations. But in order to get more Leeds stuff they might have needed the best part of another hour.

I agree. The reason I like these interviews as Si gives the interviewee plenty opportunity to talk. His questions are short and allows for plenty chat, anecdotes etc.

I prefer these over the Graham Hunter "Big Interviews". While some of those are pretty entertaining, Graham loves the sound of his own voice and his philosophical pish does my nut in.

To be fair, when talking about the Milan last 16 tie, Strachan didn't even remember that side went on to win the competition.

To be fair to Si thats probably the first time i've noticed him make a real howler in one of the interviews. I could have listened to that for another 3 hours though, Strachan was excellent on talksport last night when discussing the Rodgers to Arsenal rumours, its clear to see now he is one of us.

Strachan despite the grief he gets for being nippy sweetie has always been a good 1 on 1 interviewee when he';s not asked questions by a hack trying to generate the next days headline.
