They should do away with teams from the same nation not being allowed to face each other until the last 8

They should just declare all the teams from the top 4 nations as winners for qualifying. It's an utter joke of a competition now, they have a laugh to promote show racism the Red card when they're blatantly discriminating against all clubs outside of the top 4.

Shove it up your arse you bastards.

Unless we qualify then I'll pay over the odds to see us humped by Uefa's bosom buddies who are all FFP clean and above board.

From the official Q&A explaining the changes.

What are the main changes to UEFA's club competitions for the 2018–21 cycle?
This is an evolution not a revolution.

Who was involved in the decision to make these changes?
The amendments are the result of a wide-ranging consultative process involving all European football stakeholders and taking into account a wide range of expertise and perspectives.
European football remains united behind the concepts of solidarity, fair competition, fair distribution and good governance.
UEFA, the clubs, the leagues and the national associations speak with one voice on these matters and we are looking forward to continuing our fruitful relationship.

Just utter nonsense from start to finish. Strong armed at a time when Platini was suspended created an executive vacuum at UEFA and an interim UEFA President - who helpfully just happened to be a Spaniard with links to Real Madrid - was in place.

The ECA's now pervasive representation on UEFA's Executive and Club Competitions Committees as well as the creation of effectively a company to sell everything CL/EL related are every bit as sinister.

I hope it fails miserably, but sadly can't see it. Plenty from the Far East still willing to take selfies at the Etihad with the Gazprom sign in the background. The game is effed.

Two years failing to qualify under RD and a string of poor results have cost us dearly.
To be fair to RD, his 1st season scored 7pts, which is what we got last season, and only 1pt less than this season.

His 2nd season was 3pts, so yeh. That was crap.

All non champions should be going through at least one qualifier to get into the competition.
There are over 50 countries under the UEFA banner.

That isn't even slightly workable.

Make the qualifying games the season before, that's nearly where we're at.

Borussia M at home, Anderlecht at home were disappointing from coefficient pov too.

It puts an enormous strain on the players having to go through this. It's a nonsense. The alleged cash windfall has to be used in carrying a large squad

It's making a mockery of it. I'd be all for us being part of two leagues a season at some point. A European League and a Scottish League.

Scottish League of 10 teams, playing home and away. European League of 10 teams playing home and away. Different tiers with promotion and relegation.
That would make it more exciting, but I'm getting close to just being bored of the Champions League.

Yep. Plenty of points over the last 5 years we could have picked up.

Should have added, I would have a rule that only 2 teams per country can parttake in qualifiers

up on the roof!!

So we need to win four ties in CL qualifying to get to CL group

Or first three CL qualifiers to get to EL group

Or a combination of either zero, one or two CL qualifiers and four, three or two EL qualifiers to get to EL group

Interesting :ph43r:

If we go out in the first knockout round in 2019, we will play more European matches (14) than a team entering at the group stage will play if they reach the final (13).

Would that not be 16 ? 8 to qualify for group, 6 in group stages plus 2 in the knockout.
