I said the first round isn't even finished not the tournament. It was to underline how ridiculous the calendar is that the CL technically starts when the first phase of the World Cup isn't even complete.

Valur win again. Rosenborg struggled to a late 1-0 away to a team named after a sexual health clinic.

We might well be going to Reykjavik.

Need to move fast in the transfer market now, otherwise they'll need some cracking tweets to punt three match packages for Real Madrid, PSG, Barca etc with Hendry and Comperr as full backs and Bitton and Jozo/Ajer as centre halves.

To be fair I think the Sandyford could probably get a team together to win the Icelandic league.

Captained by Kyle Bartley.

CELTIC are facing a humiliating Champions League defeat against Alashkert according to their former boss Abraham Khashmanyan.

Khashmanyan was in charge of the Armenian side when they shocked St Johnstone in the Europa League in 2015.

And he reckons the Hoops could suffer this time when they travel to the former Soviet state in their first of a possible four qualifying rounds.

Khashmanyan said: “Celtic are a good team who always play in the Champions League, but for me there is not much difference in Scottish football between the top teams in the league.

“And Alashkert have already proved we are good enough to beat a Scottish team — and they are better than that now.

“Celtic are not insurmountable, far from it.

“There’s no reason why Armenian football cannot triumph.”

I like it when they drag some mouthy carrot up. The only one who I can mind prevailing was yon Age Haride, and that was only because he knew Ronny was a managerial fandan he had the gubbing off.

Valur are really good this season btw. Not yer average Icelandic mob. If Rosenborg continue on with the shampooe they've been playing of late they've got a great chance.

The annoying thing is that Deila had the better of him in Norway but he completely shat the bed when that injury time goal went in.

I’ve always worried when Mr Kashmanyan comes out with a prediction, he always talks sense.

I take it we’re going to have to go through the pain of ordering Premier Sports for the early rounds and then the usual frustration of trying to cancel it.

Seems strange that it does not appear to have been announced by any channel yet.

Celtic TV have announced they will be showing the match live for subscribers outside the UK and Ireland. So you've got to think the UK rights will have been picked up, presumably by that Premier Sports gang.

Ah yes, famously, there's never been much difference between Celtic and the mighty St Johnstone.
